Jobbeschreibung

About Us

Operating in the energy, utilities and waste sector, our client supports the delivery and management of essential services within a complex and highly regulated environment. Its work depends on disciplined investment, reliable operations and effective business change, creating a setting where well-governed projects can deliver measurable improvements for customers, colleagues and the wider organisation.

Based in a large-scale operational landscape, this organisation brings together specialist teams, technology, suppliers and business functions to deliver critical outcomes. The environment calls for accountable decision-making, strong risk awareness and a practical focus on turning strategic priorities into sustainable operational results.

Job Description

The Project Manager will lead the planning and delivery of complex projects across a regulated energy, utilities and waste environment. Responsibility will span the full project lifecycle, from defining scope and delivery models through to implementation, operational handover and closeout.

Success in this position will be measured through controlled delivery, transparent governance and outcomes that support business performance. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage commercial and delivery dependencies, maintain momentum across competing priorities and ensure senior stakeholders have a clear view of progress, risks, decisions and required interventions.

Working across internal functions and external partners, the role requires confident leadership without relying solely on direct authority. A structured approach, sound judgement and the ability to translate complex information into practical decisions will be essential to maintaining delivery quality, pace and stakeholder confidence.

The post is based in London and offers the opportunity to influence projects with significance across a critical national infrastructure sector. It will suit a delivery-focused professional who can combine robust project controls with an energetic, outcome-oriented approach to change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish project objectives, scope, deliverables, governance arrangements and measurable success criteria.
  • Construct integrated plans covering milestones, resources, dependencies, cost, risks and implementation activity.
  • Direct delivery through the full project lifecycle, ensuring decisions and actions remain aligned with approved outcomes.
  • Produce accurate reporting for programme leadership, steering groups and other senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain effective controls for risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, changes and benefits.
  • Coordinate cross-functional contributors spanning business operations, technology, finance, procurement and specialist services.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, delivery partners and consultants, holding them to agreed commitments and standards.
  • Facilitate governance meetings, prepare decision papers and secure timely resolution of escalated matters.
  • Monitor budget performance, resource capacity, schedule variance and delivery quality, taking corrective action where required.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and communicate complex delivery information with clarity and appropriate context.
  • Plan readiness, communications, training and handover activities so that implemented change is adopted effectively.
  • Capture lessons, evaluate delivery performance and apply improvements to future project practices.
Requirements
  • Substantial experience managing complex projects within an enterprise, regulated or operationally critical environment.
  • A proven record of delivering multidisciplinary change involving multiple business functions and external parties.
  • Strong command of project planning, scheduling, financial control, dependency management and delivery assurance.
  • Practical experience operating formal governance, reporting and approval processes.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage RAID activity, change control, escalation and senior-level decision-making.
  • Confident stakeholder leadership across executive sponsors, operational teams, technical specialists and suppliers.
  • Experience overseeing third-party delivery, commercial obligations and supplier performance.
  • Ability to interpret complex information, identify the material issue and recommend clear, proportionate action.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the preparation of concise reports and executive updates.
  • Strong organisation skills with the resilience to manage interdependent workstreams and shifting priorities.
  • A pragmatic, accountable and solutions-led approach to resolving delivery challenges.
  • Experience supporting implementation, transition, operational readiness and benefits realisation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint or comparable planning and reporting tools.
  • At least five years of relevant project management experience in a complex delivery setting.
  • A recognised qualification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM, PMP or an equivalent professional credential is desirable.
  • Knowledge of energy, utilities, waste, infrastructure or another highly governed sector would be advantageous.
Benefits
  • Lead projects that contribute to the performance and resilience of essential services across a nationally significant sector.
  • Work in a role with broad exposure to senior stakeholders, operational leaders, technical specialists and strategic suppliers.
  • Apply and strengthen project leadership skills across complex, multidisciplinary change rather than narrowly defined work packages.
  • Gain visibility of how regulated organisations govern investment, manage risk and translate strategy into operational outcomes.
  • Access an environment where structured delivery practice, lessons learned and continuous improvement are valued.
  • Develop experience across the complete project lifecycle, including mobilisation, implementation, transition and benefits tracking.
  • Receive a competitive package aligned with the scope and accountability of the position.
  • Benefit from opportunities to build professional capability through meaningful delivery experience and relevant development support.
Other

The role is located in London, England, with its work connected to a complex operational and regulatory landscape. Candidates should be comfortable engaging with senior decision-makers, navigating formal governance and maintaining delivery discipline when priorities or dependencies change.

Applications are particularly relevant from project professionals who can demonstrate ownership of outcomes, constructive challenge and effective control across large-scale change. Experience from adjacent infrastructure, public services or other regulated sectors may provide a strong foundation where the underlying delivery skills are transferable.
