Your mission

We are tackling global plastic pollution - and you will be a part of the solution!

At traceless, we are not just addressing global plastic pollution; we are leading the charge to eradicate it. Our groundbreaking technology transforms agricultural by-products into a pioneering sustainable biomaterial—biobased, plastic-free, and fully compostable. This revolutionary material leaves no harmful traces on our planet. Now, we are looking for a visionary Project Engineer to accelerate our journey from pilot to prominence.

Your Role: Catalyzing Change from Pilot to Plant

As a Project Engineer in Process Technology & Plant Construction, you will be instrumental in scaling our technology from a nimble pilot setup to a full-scale industrial facility. Your expertise in plant engineering and process development will drive the creation of innovative solutions that position traceless as the unequivocal leader in compostable biomaterials. Design main process steps by up from our pilot plant process.

Your Impact:
  • Engineering Excellence: Design and refine main process steps, transitioning from pilot to industrial scale.
  • Risk Assessment: Support HAZOP studies and evaluate safety measures, especially in regards to explosion prevention. You are used to SIL and TRGS. You know about the responsibility that comes with plant construction.
  • Strategic Documentation: Develop comprehensive process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and layout plans that set the foundation for scalable operations.
  • Sustainability Analysis: Evaluate the environmental impact of process designs, focusing on minimizing resource and energy consumption.
  • Technical Assessment: You design, plan and lead experiments for evaluating suitable machinery independently. Your focus is on determining smart input and output parameters. You're supporting our operations team throughout your trials in the plant.
  • Cost Management: Provide accurate estimates and manage investment costs for critical plant components.
  • Operational Support: Aid in the installation of production plants and train staff to ensure smooth operation and maintenance.
  • Project Implementation: Collaborate in planning, designing, and implementing the construction of traceless’s first industrial plant.
Where You’ll Make a Difference:

Enjoy a dynamic work environment that blends the best of startup vibrancy with cutting-edge technology at our new TechHub in Hamburg-Harburg, the ISI center in Buchholz. Alternatively, work remotely or engage directly at one of our forthcoming international production sites.

We look forward to welcoming you to the team in Q2/2026.
Your profile
  • Educational Background: You hold a degree in (bio-)process engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field, providing you with a solid foundation in the principles of process engineering. Or you hold a qualification as technician or construction engineer with experience in construction & project management.
  • Technical Expertise: You possess a solid understanding of wet-chemical processes and/or biomass production. Your experience extends to at least 7 years in plant design and engineering. Through your clear communication regarding your knowledge and knowledge boundaries, your specific role can be jointly formulated.
    • Plant Engineering Enthusiast: You have a deep understanding of plant engineering projects and are able to immerse yourself in the project in order to recognize the needs for target fulfillment and tackle them in coordination with the engineering group. Due to our lean personnel structure, we rely on everyone's broad understanding of plant engineering.
    • Project Management: You have the experience to lead projects with initiative and innovation. You enjoy mastering complex challenges and bringing projects to a successful conclusion.
    • Plant Design: You have the ability to realize your ideas of a production plant in flow diagrams as well as in 3D and 2D layout plans (with the support of CAD experts or partly on your own) - You speak fluent R&I and in Navisworks you move like in your living room.
    • Expertise in ATEX: Several years of experience in explosion prevention.
  • Self-initiated driver: You can take on topics on your own initiative or identify them by actively asking questions and then take responsibility for them in order to achieve a result within the set time frame. For constant self-monitoring, you actively communicate with the group, get feedback or formulate expectations for support.
  • Team player: You are a true team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a good sense of humor, which makes you a perfect fit for our collaborative and collegial environment. You do not shy away from “unpopular” tasks if they are necessary to achieve the project's goals. Project implementation is given the highest priority.
  • Sustainability assessment: You assess the impact of your process designs on resource and energy consumption to maximize our efficiency and try to approach things holistically. You don't know the status quo but try to continuously make it more sustainable.
  • Problem-solving skills & sense of responsibility: Your approach to problem solving is creative and solution-oriented. You are constantly looking for new ways to improve processes and results. You take ownership of your projects and communicate challenges early to strive for a common solution.
  • Practical skills: Beyond theory, you are practically minded and rise to the challenges of actual implementation. You do not hesitate to engage directly with processes to achieve optimal results through a hands-on approach.
  • Expectation management: You are able to communicate clearly and openly about the areas in which you can support us with your expertise and commitment. You are able to ask questions to adjust expectations.
