Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Project Director for HVDC to spearhead large offshore HVDC programs across Northern Europe. You will provide leadership, strategic direction, and ensure safety, quality, and financial targets are achieved while coordinating a global team of professionals.

You will drive execution of multi-million-dollar projects, manage risks, and maintain strong client and partner relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
• Fluency in written and spoken German and English.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale EPC/turnkey projects in power generation, transmission & distribution or HVDC.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-million-dollar EPC mega-projects ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
• Provide strong leadership for a global, diverse team including project managers and specialists.
• Proactively manage change, assess risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Own project P&L, lead budget planning and execution.
• Build relationships and communicate with clients, subcontractors, and partners.

We are looking for a Project Director for HVDC to spearhead the execution and timely delivery of largescale electrical transmission and distribution projects within the framework of a large Program of offshore HVDC Projects across multiple countries in Northern Europe.

As the Project Director, you will provide leadership, strategic vision and direction to the HVDC Projects to ensure that the strategies and objectives, alongside the forecast and financial management, are developed and achieved through its operations.

How you'll make an impact:

• Leading the execution of multi-million-dollar EPC mega-projects, ensuring on-time and on budget completion.
• Providing strong, supportive leadership for a large global and diverse team, including project managers and other specialists
• Proactively managing change, assess risks and opportunities, and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
• Taking full ownership of project P&L, leading budget planning and execution.
• Building strong relationships, effectively communicating and collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and business partners.

Your background and skills:

• Bachelor's or Master of Science degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
• Excellent fluency in written and spoken German and English.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale EPC/turnkey projects in in power generation, transmission & distribution or power conversion (HVDC, substations, etc.)
• Proven experience as a Project Director in similar environmentswith at least 10-15 years in the position
• Strong communication skills, effectively managing client relationships and subcontractor interactions.
• Understanding and implementation of risk assessments, method statements, and project methodologies (PMP/PMI certification a plus).
• Possessing the ability to analyze complex contracts and navigate local project regulations.
