Jobbeschreibung

Agnes Varraine-Leca/MSF

MSF is an independent international medical relief organisation, with 28 offices worldwide. When large-scale epidemics occur, when areas in crisis are too dangerous for many other organisations, then our medical teams are there to assist the affected population. We organise basic medical care, treat the injured, carry out vaccination campaigns, train local staff and build up medical infrastructure. In long-term aid projects our teams fight diseases like tuberculosis, malaria, sleeping sickness, and HIV/AIDS.

Project Coordinator
tasks and responsibilities

We can only work efficiently and quickly where help is most needed if we have excellent project management.

As a project coordinator you will take over the management of one of our projects. Once you have been assigned a project, you will be responsible for all operational activities, budget, staff and security. You will also plan, coordinate and evaluate the project to ensure that our objectives are achieved. This means you will often manage large teams that include both staff from the project countries, as well as international colleagues.

It will be your job to follow political and humanitarian developments in the project's region. This is essential for making the best-possible assessment of the current situation on the ground to ensure the safety of the project and the team. You will also ensure that our charter and values are respected. As a member of the country coordination team, you will represent MSF at the local level. This includes being the contact person for authorities, representatives of local communities, other non-governmental organizations and the media.

Our Requirements
  • At least two years of relevant project and staff management experience in a comparable international context, e.g.: with other non-governmental organizations and with at least two different projects or project countries
  • Experience in guiding and training staff members
  • Time availability for at least 12 months for a first assignment. If you want to work in a relatively stable project country, you should plan for 24 months
  • Very good knowledge of English and ideally further language skills in French, Spanish, Arabic or Russian. Good knowledge of French can have a significant influence on the overall assessment and final selection decision
  • Travel or work experience in African, Asian or Latin American countries
  • Ability to work in a team, cultural sensitivity, organizational and improvisational skills as well as high mental and physical resilience
  • Willingness to work in accordance with Médecins Sans Frontières humanitarian principles, charter and mission statement
What do we offer
  • Salary sufficient to cover costs at home while you are in the field
  • A per diem during assignment to cover food expenses and other local purchases in local currency
  • Round-trip transportation to and from assignment
  • Room and board during assignment
  • A comprehensive insurance package, including health and emergency evacuation insurance
  • Holiday leave (depending on project)

We strongly recommend that you attend a webinar or HR info event about working with MSF to learn more about responsibilities and requirements before you apply.

As an international organization, we support diversity, openness and mutual respect. In line with our values, incoming applications are only evaluated for their professional qualifications and are considered regardless of ethnic and social origin, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.

We look forward to your application.
