Job Summary

The Program Director is responsible for leadership of overall global health office functions and oversight of global health immersive learning experiences, especially the WASH Graduate Certificate program. Reporting to Associate Dean for Global Health and Human Rights and working closely with Dornsife School of Public Health administrators, faculty, staff, students, and external partners.

This position is grant-funded; employment is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.

Essential Functions

• Manage WASH Graduate Certificate Program:
  • In cooperation with the Associate Dean for Global Health and Human Rights, lead the Drexel University/Desert Research Institute WASH Capacity Building Program, which provides technical capacity training and action research to field staff across Africa, Southern Asia, and the Latino-Caribbean regions through a series of competency-based training modules.
  • Manage financial planning and effective use of resources for the WASH Capacity Building Program to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Represent Drexel University with World Vision in the development of existing and new programs and opportunities for Dornsife students and/or World Vision employees.
  • Initiate the course registration process for enrolled WASH students throughout their curriculum and enter course registration in Drexel systems.
  • Maintain official files of each student including their program of study, advisory records and all forms surrounding graduate student procedures.
  • Maintain record of each student’s progression throughout the program.
  • Initiate and manage the processes for enrolling and/or hiring international scholars and adjuncts working closely with HR, OISS, and sponsoring SPH department.
  • Maintain constant communication with all WASH Program stakeholders to ensure smooth functioning of the program.
  • Coordinate international visiting scholars, orienting them with the university, making recommendations and other arrangements.
  • Perform initial graduation checks and certificate program completion checks
  • Acts as a liaison with bursar, registrar, financial aid, and enrollment management, OISS, HR, regarding programmatic and individual visiting scholars and student issues.
  • Participate in recruitment and orientation events as needed.
  • Inform and advise the Associate Dean for Global Health and Human Rights on all day-to-day operations and developments in the program. - (Essential)
• Global Immersive Training Operations:
  • Support operations of the Dornsife Global Development Scholars program with an eye to maintaining its legacy of developing innovative leaders in the field of WASH with associated programming and thought leadership.
  • Support student promotion, selection, and the development of pre-departure training curricula for the Dornsife Global Development Scholars.
  • Advise on effective risk management and safety compliance, including education abroad registration for the above international experiences.
  • Promote awareness and compliance with policies relevant to safety and welfare of Dornsife personnel including faculty, staff, and students traveling abroad in coordination with the Office of Global Engagement, Office of Risk Management, and Office of the General Counsel.
  • Collaborate closely with the Offices of Education Abroad, Equality and Diversity, and Student Life to develop diversity-focused engagement strategies meeting the global training experience needs of underrepresented minority groups in global experiential learning opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Public Health, Education, International Development.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally.
• Availability to work outside of standard business hours, including early mornings or evenings, as needed.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously are invaluable assets for this role.
• Strong administrative skills and demonstrated proficiency with Excel, databases, and other systems for tracking student progress and performance.
• Ability and willingness to work both collaboratively in teams and independently.
• Ability to work with students across generations to motivate, excite, and empower action in their future careers through opportunities created through the office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Operational experience with international organizations, governments, universities, or NGOs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) is preferred.
• 5 or more years of experience in global health work is preferred.
• Knowledge of a second language, especially French or Spanish, is preferred.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from$60,240 to $90,350 per year. Please note that the offered rate for thisposition will vary based on thesuccessful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
