METRO.digital is seeking a Program and Portfolio Manager for our Digital Transformation Office. You will drive execution of IT strategy with a strong emphasis on technical delivery and governance, coordinating multi-year roadmaps and cross-platform initiatives.

You will manage complex programs, ensure transparency on progress and value realization, and collaborate with CIO Office to align priorities and drive adoption across the organization.

Qualifikationen

• 7+ years of experience in enterprise IT or top-tier IT consultancy.
• Proven track record of managing complex, large-scale digital programs and portfolios.
• Strong hands-on understanding of IT build and delivery (product delivery, engineering, integration, infrastructure & services, legacy modernization).
• Very good fluency in English (written and verbal), German preferred.

Aufgaben

• Own and refine a multi-year digital delivery roadmap with feasibility and sequencing across systems and platforms.
• Oversee and challenge complex, cross-platform initiatives with a focus on project management and technical integrity, dependencies, risk and on-time delivery.
• Act as Program Manager for selected initiatives, with hands-on involvement in structuring, planning and execution tracking.
• Ensure end-to-end transparency on delivery, including progress, risks, trade-offs and value realization.
• Ensure business case validity, tracking and delivery of expected outcomes.
• Establish and drive governance structures to ensure successful delivery (e.g., Steering Committees with executives).
• Work with platform/architecture/engineering leads to validate solution approaches and delivery plans; support CIO priorities; drive adoption of initiatives.

How you will make an impact?

We are seeking a Program and Portfolio Manager for our Digital Transformation Office (DTO) Team. In this role, you will act as a senior individual contributor driving the execution of our IT Strategy in line with our sCore direction. You will operate with strong focus on technical delivery, ensuring that complex digital initiatives are not only well-governed, but also technically sound and executable. By aligning strategy with execution, providing value transparency, and ensuring sound portfolio and strategic roadmap governance, you will be at the center of IT-enabled transformation!

Your Responsibilities:

• Own and continuously refine a multi-year digital delivery roadmap, ensuring feasibility and sequencing across systems and platforms;
• Main task: Oversee and challenge complex, cross-platform initiatives with a strong focus on project management and technical integrity, dependencies, risk and in-time delivery;
• Act as Program Manager for selected key initiatives, with hands-on involvement in structuring, planning, and execution tracking;
• Ensure end-to-end transparency on delivery, including progress, risks, trade-offs, and value realization;
• Ensure business case validity, tracking and delivery of expected outcomes;
• Whenever needed – ensure rapid turnaround of strategic initiatives;
• Establish and drive governance structures to ensure successful delivery (including Steering Committees with executive stakeholders);
• Work closely with platform leads, architecture and engineering leads to validate solution approaches and delivery plans;
• Work closely with CIO Office incl. flexibility for ad-hoc work related to CIO priorities;
• Drive pragmatic change and adoption, ensuring initiatives land effectively in the organization.

Qualifications

Required key competencies and qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience either in enterprise IT or top-tier IT consultancy;
• Proven track record of managing complex, large-scale digital programs and portfolios;
• Strong hands-on understanding of IT build and delivery (e.g. product delivery, engineering, integration, infrastructure & services, legacy modernization etc.);
• Ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous topics and turn them into actionable plans;
• Comfortable working hands-on and independently, without formal team leadership;
• Strong senior stakeholder management and reporting skills, with the ability to challenge constructively;
• Very good fluency in English (written and verbal), German preferred.
