A prestigious university in Münster, Germany, seeks a W1-level professorship in Organic Chemistry, offering a chance for tenure track. The Institute of Organic Chemistry of the University of Münster, Germany, seeks to fill the following position at the earliest possible date.
The position is limited to three years with the possibility of a three-year extension. Upon receiving a positive evaluation, the appointee will be granted a permanent W2-level professorship.
The appointee is expected to contribute in future to the undergraduate and graduate teaching curriculum in organic chemistry and general chemistry for students majoring and minoring in chemistry. Moreover, the candidate should represent the field of organic chemistry in its entire spectrum and is expected to participate in academic administration.
Candidates should develop an independent, innovative and internationally visible profile in the field of organic chemistry, such as the development of new synthesis methods or the synthesis and investigation of natural products, biologically active compounds/structures or functional materials, and thereby complement and strengthen the current research activities at the Institute of Organic Chemistry. We expect the candidate to collaborate closely with other research groups, especially within the Institute, in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy and the other faculties of the natural sciences. Participation in coordinated programmes and research priorities at the University of Münster is desired.
To be considered for this position, the candidate must hold a degree in chemistry, possess subject‑related and pedagogical aptitude and a subject‑relevant doctoral degree. Additional research experience at a university or non‑university institution in Germany or abroad is expected.
