A leading research university in Bochum is seeking a Professor W2 with Tenure-Track W3 in Theoretical Electrical Engineering. The role involves representing the subject in research and teaching, emphasizing strong commitment to interdisciplinary research and the ability to attract third-party funded projects. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites applications for the position of a Professor W2 with Tenure-Track W3 (m / f / d) in Theoretical Electrical Engineering commencing as soon as possible.
The holder of the position will represent the subject of Theoretical Electrical Engineering in research and teaching.
The future post holder is expected to be scientifically active in the main research areas: Design and application of modern analytical and numerical methods for the computation of electromagnetic fields and waves, including, for example, the use of physics-informed Machine Learning; Modelling and simulation of complex technical systems, with application potential in plasma research (e.g. technical plasmas, surface treatment with plasmas and lasers, model-based plasma diagnostics).
With links to research areas of the faculty and the university. Activities in the field of plasma research are bundled in the Research Department for Plasmas with Complex Interactions. In particular, it is essential that the planned research activities are integrated into the context of current and future Collaborative Research Centre applications and other possible coordinated programmes.
Teaching is to be provided in theoretical engineering, taught in German and English as part of the compulsory and elective courses of all programs offered by the faculty and the future holder of this position is expected to actively participate in shaping selected study focuses of the faculty.
The position will be filled with a tenure track for the professorship to W3. If the evaluation is positive, the professorship will be in an appropriately simplified procedure without a new announcement. Positive evaluation as a junior professor, habilitation or equivalent academic achievement and evidence of special aptitude are just as much required as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and to generally get involved in university processes according to Ruhr-Universität Bochum's mission statement. The candidate has to meet the appointment requirements according to section 36 ff. Hochschulgesetz NW.
