Zusammenfassung

gusto is seeking a Product Designer to shape retirement and financial products for small businesses and their employees. You will partner with product management, engineering, and data to craft cohesive, high-trust experiences across the full employer and employee journey.

In this role you will design end-to-end flows, improve onboarding and setup, and create scalable design patterns that integrate with payroll and benefits. AI fluency and comfort shipping across design and code are valued.

Qualifikationen

• 8+ years of product design experience with end-to-end shipped work and measurable impact.
• High craft bar across interaction design, information architecture, and visual design for complex form-heavy workflows.
• Demonstrated AI fluency in design practice, with evidence of AI changing how you prototype, test, and ship.
• Comfort moving between design and code, shipping UI directly or with AI-assisted tools to close the prototype-to-production gap.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and shape unclear inputs into clear goals, tradeoffs, and shipped outcomes.
• Systems-thinking mindset that designs scalable solutions beyond a single screen.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product management to define customer problems, set strategy, and identify measurable outcomes across activation, adoption, and retention
• Improve setup and account management flows to boost confidence and reduce support contact rates
• Design connected experiences that bridge product, operations, and support touchpoints
• Build flexible, scalable design patterns that integrate seamlessly with adjacent payroll and benefits workflows
• Apply discerning judgment to determine when and how AI can meaningfully enhance the user experience
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to co-own priorities and drive shipping quality work

Requirements

• 8+ years in product design with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end shipped work and measurable impact
• High craft bar across interaction design, information architecture, and visual design, especially in complex form-heavy workflows
• Demonstrated AI fluency in design practice, with evidence of AI changing how you prototype, test, and ship
• Comfort moving between design and code, whether shipping UI directly or using AI-assisted tools to close the prototype-to-production gap
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and shape unclear inputs into clear goals, tradeoffs, and shipped outcomes

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated or high-trust domains such as fintech, taxes, insurance, healthcare, or benefits/retirement
