  • Oversee sourcing and purchasing activities to ensure material availability, quality, cost competitiveness, and on-time delivery for production needs.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including supplier selection, contract negotiations, performance reviews, and development of ongoing strategic partnerships.
  • Drive annual cost savings initiatives through effective negotiations, market analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Manage inventory health to balance customer service levels, production requirements, and working capital objectives.
  • Support procurement of direct materials such as roll goods, adhesives, coatings, inks, and other manufacturing materials required for labeling solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, and Customer Service to support business objectives and product lifecycle initiatives.
  • Monitor commodity and market trends to identify risks, opportunities, and appropriate sourcing strategies.
  • Manage departmental processes, documentation, budgeting, and ERP data while ensuring compliance with ISO standards.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of supply chain strategies that improve operational efficiency and enhance supplier performance.
  • Use procurement, direct procurement, vendor management, purchasing, contract management, and negotiation skills to support business goals and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, purchasing, buying, supply planning, or a related supply chain function.
  • At least 2 years of formal people leadership, team lead, supervisory, or significant team-development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading supplier negotiations and managing supplier performance.
  • Experience sourcing materials, services, equipment, or production-related commodities.
  • Experience managing cost-reduction initiatives and delivering measurable purchasing savings.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and purchasing-related technology.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed sourcing decisions.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and drive cost savings.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address supply issues and mitigate risks.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance strategic priorities and day-to-day purchasing needs.
  • Proficiency in procurement, direct procurement, vendor management, purchasing, contract management, and negotiation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience sourcing roll goods, adhesives, inks, coatings, films, paper products, labels, or comparable direct-material commodities.
  • Experience managing procurement spend related to contract manufacturing, domestic freight, or international trade.
  • Global sourcing or international supplier-management experience.
  • Experience participating in or executing Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) processes.
  • Experience working in a customized manufacturing, labeling, printing, medical, laboratory, automotive, or industrial production environment.
  • Experience managing an annual purchasing budget or spend portfolio of approximately $15 million or more.
  • Proficiency with Epicor ERP.
  • Interest in contributing to a stable, long-standing organization where procurement leadership directly impacts cost savings, supplier performance, inventory health, and production continuity.
Work Environment

The role is primarily onsite with core hours typically between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility based on business needs. The organization offers practical flexibility to accommodate appointments, family needs, and unexpected situations. The anticipated schedule includes approximately one work-from-home day per week, depending on business requirements and team priorities. Travel is expected to be no more than 10%, primarily for supplier visits within Minnesota, along with occasional conferences or other business-related travel.
