Job description

ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology

Enabler for smaller, more powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips

Around 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are produced using ZEISS technologies. As the centerpiece of every electronically controlled system, they have become an integral part of our everyday lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, increasingly powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips, and thus plays a pivotal role in the age of micro- and nanoelectronics.

ZEISS SMT is seeking a Process Engineer (m/f/x) for Cleaning and Contamination-Control Processes for Optical Components at the Oberkochen site, in the Optics EUV domain.

Your Role
  • Interface between manufacturing and development, representing the Engineering function at the production level
  • Responsible for manufacturing key figures such as OEE, cycle times, yield, and cost of manufacture
  • Analyze, stabilize, and drive continuous improvement (CI) of manufacturing and cleaning processes with regard to quality, process safety, overall equipment effectiveness, and cost
  • Qualify, evaluate, and transfer machines and processes to production, including assessment of the necessary milestones
  • Systematically address machine and process disturbances and derive sustainable countermeasures to prevent recurrence
  • Introduce, evaluate, and approve new operating and auxiliary materials in close coordination with Development, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance
  • Define and perform visual and quantitative surface analyses for contamination assessment and root-cause analysis
  • Support the procurement of new systems and their ramp-up phase, and actively collaborate with internal partners to sustainably implement process improvements and industrialization measures
Your Profile
  • A successfully completed university degree in Process Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a comparable technical or scientific field
  • Solid hands-on experience in an industrial production, development, or process environment, ideally with relevance to cleaning processes, surface engineering, or technical cleanliness
  • Relevant experience in the design, evaluation, stabilization, and optimization of chemical, wet-chemical, or physical processes
  • Knowledge of working in clean environments (e.g., cleanroom) is advantageous
  • Experience in the production, development, or industrialization of demanding high-tech products; familiarity with optics, semiconductor, or precision manufacturing is desirable
  • Proficient in methods of process analysis and optimization, statistical experimental design and fault analysis, e.g., Six Sigma, CI, Minitab, 8D, or FMEA
  • Strong analytical skills, structured work approach, high initiative, and very good communication and teamwork
  • Very good spoken and written skills in German and in English
