The successful candidate will bring deep expertise across power electronics, converter topologies, power cells, rectifier and inverter systems, control architecture, motor-drive interaction, thermal management, protection, system integration and grid requirements.

You will work across multiple engineering disciplines to define robust and competitive drive-system architectures, solve complex system-level technical problems, and guide the development of next-generation MV drive platforms for demanding industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities
1. Medium Voltage Drive System Architecture
  • Lead the top-level system architecture of next-generation Medium Voltage Drive systems.
  • Define system-level architectures covering: Input/rectifier topology, DC-link and power conversion architecture, Inverter and power-cell configuration, Multilevel converter topologies, Control and protection architecture, Cooling and thermal management, Cabinet and mechanical system architecture, and Auxiliary systems and interfaces.
  • Define system-level technical requirements and performance targets based on application, motor and grid characteristics.
  • Evaluate architectural trade-offs between efficiency, reliability, power density, harmonic performance, fault tolerance, maintainability and cost.
  • Drive system architecture from concept and simulation through prototype validation and product industrialization.
  • Provide technical leadership in high-power converter and MV drive technologies.
  • Evaluate and develop advanced converter topologies, including multilevel voltage-source inverter (VSI) architectures and related high-power conversion technologies.
  • Define and optimize:, Power semiconductor and power-cell architecture, Rectifier and front-end solutions, DC-link architecture, Inverter topology, Switching strategies, Protection concepts, and Thermal design.
  • Understand the impact of semiconductor devices, power modules, switching frequency and topology on overall system performance and reliability.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency, power density, reliability and system cost.
3. Drive Control & System-Level Performance
  • Define the system-level control architecture of MV drive systems in cooperation with control software and power electronics teams.
  • Understand the interaction between: Converter topology, Motor characteristics, Load dynamics, Control algorithms, Grid characteristics, and Protection systems.
  • Provide technical direction on advanced drive-control concepts such as: Vector control, Direct torque control. Sensorless control. Active front end / regenerative operation, Harmonic mitigation, Grid interaction and power quality.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex system-level issues involving motor-drive interaction, resonance, harmonics, instability, thermal limitations and protection.
4. Application & System Integration
  • Develop system solutions for demanding high-power industrial applications such as: Compressors, Pumps, Fans, Mills, Extruders, Marine propulsion, Mining and metals, Oil & gas, Cement and other heavy industries.
  • Understand the relationship between drive-system architecture and the characteristics of the driven equipment.
