Qualifikationen

• Mehrere Jahre nachweisliche technische Führungs­erfahrung.
• Fundierte Java-Programmierung, ideal mit Spring Boot.
• Gute Kenntnisse relationaler Datenbankentwürfe & SQL (PostgreSQL bevorzugt).
• Verständnis moderner Cloud-Backends (GCP bevorzugt).
• Eigenverantwortliche Problemlösung und Ownership-Kultur.
• Sehr gute schriftliche und mündliche Englischkenntnisse.

To support our team at the Hamburg headquarters, we are looking for you as a full-time (40 hours) Principal Engineer (f/m/d)* Backend, Java with immediate effect. As Principal Engineer (f/m/d)* Backend, Java, you will be one of the key technical experts for our E&V Agent Platform. Your primary focus will be the design and implementation of scalable Java backend services, with particular responsibility for database performance, transaction management and data‑intensive processing.

Tasks that let you grow

• Act as a key technical expert for the E&V Agent Platform, focusing on designing and implementing scalable Java backend services for data‑intensive workloads.
• Work hands‑on with our engineering teams to identify database bottlenecks, optimize complex search queries and continuously evolve our PostgreSQL ecosystem.
• Establish robust engineering patterns for high‑volume transactional workloads, reducing lock contention and designing reliable batch and asynchronous processing workflows.
• Build consistent architectural principles, tooling, and observability across teams to detect database risks early and ensure systems are performant by default.
• Evaluate modern database technologies within the Google Cloud ecosystem to ensure long‑term architecture resilience and scalability.
• Combine deep backend engineering expertise with cross‑team technical guidance, actively resolving critical incidents and conducting architecture reviews to upskill engineering teams.

Your skills, that inspire us

• Several years of proven technical leadership experience, or an experienced Senior Backend Engineer (f/m/d)*.
• Profound experience in writing clean, maintainable code in Java, ideally using the Spring Boot framework.
• Good knowledge of data structures, deep understanding of relational database design principles & knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL preferred).
• Understanding of modern cloud‑based backend architectures and technologies (GCP preferred).
• Proactive problem solver with a strong ownership mindset and a drive to take cross‑team initiatives from concept to production.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
