Job summary

Mynaric AG in Germany seeks a Principal Electronics Engineer (m/f/d) to lead the electronics architecture for next-generation optical communication terminals. You will own interfaces, power, grounding, and the partitioning between controller, modem and optical head electronics, shaping high-speed design strategy.

We require 10+ years in electronics development, advanced degrees, and hands-on experience in space or defense domains.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years hands-on electronics development experience.
• At least 3 years as architect or technical lead for complex systems, ideally in space/aerospace/defense.
• Hands-on design experience in high-speed digital design and SI/PI simulation tools.
• Hands-on EMI/EMC experience, from design through testing per MIL-STD-461 or ECSS-E-ST-20-07.
• Knowledge of space electronics: component selection, derating and radiation effects.

Responsibilities

• Own the electronics architecture of next-generation multi-waveform optical terminals.
• Define electrical interfaces, power architecture, grounding and shielding concepts; partitioning between controller, modem and optical head electronics.
• Set high-speed design strategy for multi-gigabit links and high-pin-count FPGAs.
• Own EMI/EMC from design through test planning, pre-compliance testing and issue resolution.
• Lead electronics content in design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and represent electronics toward customers and partners.
• Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, optical, embedded software and production teams on trade-offs.
• Guide and mentor electronics engineers and set standards for design quality, verification and documentation.

What you bring with you

• Required experience:Minimum 10 years of hands-on professional experience in the field, including technical leadership.
• M.Sc. or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a comparable field.
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on professional experience in electronics development, including at least 3 years as architect or technical lead for complex systems, ideally in space, aerospace or defense.
• Hands-on design experience in high-speed digital design and SI/PI simulation tools; not only a reviewing or management role.
• Hands-on EMI/EMC experience, from design through testing, including standards such as MIL-STD-461 or ECSS-E-ST-20-07.
• Knowledge of space electronics: component selection, derating and radiation effects.
• Hands-on use of Altium Designer and advanced laboratory instruments for bring-up and debugging.
