Futurice Oy is seeking a Principal AI Architect in Germany to lead complex AI ecosystems, guiding senior engineers from concept to production. You will shape AI roadmaps for clients, collaborate with sales and delivery teams, and ensure governance and compliance across projects.

The role requires advanced degrees, expertise in Python and cloud platforms, and fluency in German (C1/C2) plus English. You will mentor engineers and contribute to reusable assets and scalable delivery.

About the role

As our Principal AI Architect, you will act as a trusted advisor to our clients and a key contributor to our commercial growth, shaping AI opportunities from early-stage discussions through to scalable delivery. This isn't just about building models; it's about architecting the future of how our clients operate. You will sit at the intersection of business value, cutting-edge research (GenAI, Agents, MLOps), and robust software engineering. You will guide senior-level engineers and consultants to turn "AI potential" into "production reality," ensuring our solutions are scalable, compliant, and transformative.

What You'll Do

• Architectural Leadership: Design and oversee the implementation of complex AI ecosystems, including advanced RAG architectures, multi-agent systems, and event-driven AI microservices.
• Commercial & Client Impact: You will support sales and pre-sales by shaping AI opportunities, contributing to proposals, and engaging in client discussions. Working with account and service line teams, you will translate client needs into scalable solutions and guide them from concept to production. You will also help develop reusable assets and capture learnings to strengthen future delivery.
• Strategic Advisory: Act as a high-level consultant for C-suite stakeholders, translating business challenges into technical AI roadmaps.
• Technical Excellence: Set the standard for AI engineering practices, from systematic LLM evaluation and "Agentic" workflows to robust MLOps/LLMOps pipelines.
• Innovation & Research: Stay ahead of the curve (diffusion models, multimodal UX, MCP) and develop reusable proprietary assets to accelerate client delivery.
• Governance & Ethics: Ensure all solutions meet the highest standards of AI safety and compliance, specifically regarding GDPR and the EU AI Act.
• Mentorship: Foster a culture of continuous learning, mentoring Senior AI Engineers and helping them bridge the gap between data science and production-grade software.

Who We're Looking For

• The Academic Foundation: An advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field (think: "Physics-Aware ML" or "High-Dimensional Statistics").
• Consulting Mindset & Commercial Acumen: You bring a consulting mindset and are comfortable working with clients to shape ambiguous problems into clear solutions. You have experience supporting sales or proposals and can connect technical decisions to business outcomes. You communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences and balance hands-on expertise with commercial awareness.
• The Builder's Soul: Deep, hands-on experience in Python and cloud-native environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP). You should feel at home with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or Snowflake.
• Generative AI Mastery: Proven track record of moving GenAI projects beyond the "Chatbot" phase into complex, integrated production systems.
• Linguistic Fluency: German skills at a C1/C2 is mandatory. You must be able to lead workshops and navigate complex legal/business discussions in German. Fluency in English is also required.
• Cloud & DevOps Savvy: Expert knowledge of IaC, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines. You believe that a model is only as good as its deployment.

Preferred Certifications & Skills

• Cloud Architect or Data Engineer Associates (e.g., DP-600, AZ-204, or AWS Pro).
• Experience with Vector Databases (Qdrant, Pinecone) and Orchestration (LangChain, LlamaIndex).
• A background in professional consulting or agency environments.

Compensation

Your complete compensation package will be discussed in detail during the recruitment process. Our salary model is designed to offer a range of levels based on three factors: skills, responsibilities and impact. During the initial interview round, we will discuss the salary range for this position. We offer a fixed salary with the possibility of performance-based bonuses and additional benefits.
