Jobbeschreibung
Postdoctoral scientist (f/m/d) on elevated temperature stress in Barley

Molekularbiologe/-biologin

  • Biologe/Biologin
  • Genetiker/in

The research group Seed Development characterizes molecular pathways that regulate spike and grain development in barley, and within the here offered position the impact of elevated temperature on yield will be determined. We aim to deliver molecular key players through state‑of‑the‑art genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics methods on barley grown in a field‑like setting. The here offered position is part of a Leibniz funded research consortium and represent an unique collaborative environment for early career scientist.

Your tasks:
  • Apply DAP‑seq, RNA‑seq, molecular methods, proteasome‑activity assays, confocal microscopy, protoplast assays, to construct and validate gene regulatory networks relevant to spike and grain development for candidate selection.
  • Analyze complex transcriptome, DAP‑seq, and GWAS data.
  • Anatomical phenotyping of spikes and grains using microscopy and performing biochemical assays.
  • Report your work in scientific journals and oral presentation.
Your qualifications and skills:
  • You hold a PhD in plant science, molecular biology, genetics, or related field.
  • You have experience with barley, genomic, transcriptomics and bioinformatic methods. Highly desirable are experiences with transactivation assays, protoplast isolation and proteasome activity assays.
  • You have good communication skills and will to collaborate with researchers from different disciplines.
You fit to us:
  • if you have a strong interest in molecular biology and crop physiology.
  • if you have strong scientific curiosity and motivation.
  • if you are able to work autonomously and in a team.
  • You have problem solving skills.
We offer you:
  • an exciting project with great opportunities to develop independent research lines.
  • a good infrastructure and welcoming work environment.
  • a full‑time position (100 %) limited for 3 years according to § 2 WissZeitVG with a standard salary up to TV‑L E13.
  • an entry from 01.01.2026 or later, in subject to a positive funding commitment.
