Zusammenfassung

Ein Forschungsinstitut in Potsdam sucht einen Postdoc für das Themenfeld Risikomanagement und Anpassung an den Klimawandel. Die Rolle umfasst empirische Forschung zu landwirtschaftlichen Risiken mit einem Fokus auf Entwicklungsländern. Anforderungen sind ein Masterabschluss und umfassende Kenntnisse in statistischer Analyse, R und Python. Die Zusammenarbeit mit internationalen Partnern wird erwartet und Reisen in Entwicklungsländer sind erforderlich.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s Degree mit quantitativer Ausrichtung.
• Kenntnisse in tropischer Landwirtschaft und nachhaltiger Entwicklung.
• Erfahrung in probabilistischer Risikomodellierung.

Aufgaben

• Durchführung empirischer Studien zu landwirtschaftlichem Risikomanagement.
• Koordination und Mitwirkung an der Umsetzung von Forschungsprojekten.
• Verfassen und Veröffentlichen von Artikeln in peer-reviewed Zeitschriften.

Key responsibilities:

• conduct empirical and modelling studies on agricultural risk management and adaptation to climate change, with a focus on LMICs
• coordinate and contribute to the implementation of research projects through close collaboration with other researchers at PIK as well as the involved stakeholders in the target countries
• write and publish articles in peer-reviewed journals that highlight findings from the research projects and present research findings at international conferences
• liaise and maintain communication with project donors, responding to information requests, preparing project progress reports and policy briefs

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in political science, environmental policy, or related fields with a quantitative orientation, with experience in both empirical research and future projections
• knowledge and work experience in tropical agriculture, sustainable development, and climate impact analysis
• qualifications in probilistic risk modelling, applied statistics and familiar with quantitative risk modelling measures
• strong data analysis skills and proficiency in R and Python; experience with other programing languages, GIS and agricultural and flood modelling software is desirable
• primary data collection skills
• Ability to manage projects and contribute to research proposal development is an asset
• Work experience in LMICs and willingness to travel to these countries is essential
