Zusammenfassung

Postdoctoral position at University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) to study cancer metabolism and metastatic progression. The project uses CRISPR screening, metabolomics, and lipidomics to uncover therapeutic targets across organ metastasis in pancreatic and other cancers.

The successful candidate will perform independent research in a collaborative team, present results at conferences, supervise students, and ensure GLP-compliant documentation.

Qualifikationen

  • PhD in life sciences required.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) required.
  • Licensed training for animal experiments (FELASA-B) required.
  • Basic bioinformatics skills and biostatistics required.
  • Experience with metabolomics/lipidomics data is an advantage.

Aufgaben

  • Perform standard molecular biology methods (PCR, qPCR, Western blot).
  • Culture cells; 3D culture is an advantage.
  • Process human/murine tumor tissues.
  • Conduct animal experiments and metastasis models.
  • Lead independent research within a collaborative team.
  • Present results at national and international meetings.

Jobbeschreibung

Postdoctoral position (f/m/d)

My research group at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) investigates cancer metabolism and metabolic plasticity during metastatic progression. My research focuses on identifying metabolic vulnerabilities in pancreatic cancer and other entities across the different stages of the metastatic cascade. To uncover novel therapeutic targets for organ metastasis, we employ state-of-the-art technologies, including in vitro and in vivo CRISPR screening approaches. In addition, my laboratory integrates comprehensive metabolomics and lipidomics analyses of cancer cells, tumor tissues, and other biological samples to characterize dynamic metabolic adaptations and capture the mechanisms underlying metabolic plasticity during cancer progression. Funding for this position is provided by the “UMG2032 - Excellence through Focus” project, funded by zukunft.niedersachsen, the joint science funding program of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and the Volkswagen Foundation.

Responsibilities
  • Standard Molecular Biology (PCR, qPCR, Western Blot, cloning and bacterial transformation, Immunohistochemistry, etc.)
  • Experience with cell culture experiments (3D culture systems is an advantage)
  • Processing of human and murine tumor tissue samples (e.g., tumor tissue, plasma)
  • Experience with animal experiments and models of metastasis is a prerequisite
  • Conduct an independent research project within a collaborative team
  • Present and communicate research results at national and international scientific meetings
  • Supervision of students
  • Documentation of experiments and results according to GLP standards
Qualifications
  • You are a curious and enthusiastic scientist who can work independently but also in a team
  • Strong background in Cancer Metabolism and / or Cancer Metastasis Research
  • Solid knowledge of standard molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and cell biology techniques
  • Licensed training to perform animal experiments (e.g. FELASA-B) is a prerequisite
  • Basic bioinformatics skills and solid biostatistics are a prerequisite
  • Experience with sample preparation and data analysis of metabolomics and lipidomics is an advantage
  • Communicate effectively within the team, internal and external collaborators, clinicians and other scientists
  • Applicants should hold a PhD in the life sciences, such as Biology, Medical Biology, Molecular Medicine, Biochemistry or a related subject
  • Fluent English language skills (written and spoken) are required
We offer
  • You will work in a high-impact research field with biomedical relevance embedded in the collaborative environment of the Göttingen Campus including several supportive facilities and inspiring research consortia
  • Small, international and diverse research group with a strong team spirit and an open-minded, collaborative and respectful working atmosphere
  • The UMG is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals
  • We further strive for gender and diversity equality. We welcome applications from all backgrounds
