The Institute of Epidemiology researches the interaction of environment, lifestyle and genetics in the development and progression of various diseases. The focus is on cardiometabolic, respiratory and allergic diseases. The goal is to break new ground in prevention on an individual level as well as to enable evidence-based preventive health care through improved environmental conditions. The research is mainly based on the KORA resources and the birth cohorts GINIplus and LISA.

We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoc with a strong publication record and a passion to develop and support our multidisciplinary team focused on allergy research.

  • Independent development and pursuit of research questions
  • Analysis of complex longitudinal data, with allergic diseases and immunological endpoints
  • Investigation of risk factors, and patterns for allergic diseases
  • Manuscript preparation, and presentation of results
  • Support in supervision of PhD and graduate students
  • Contributing to different projects within the team and with external project partners
  • Opportunity to write independent grant applications

Your profile

  • Doctoral degree in epidemiology or related fields, with prior knowledge in epidemiological research (PhD candidates close to defending their thesis are also welcome to apply)
  • Preferably experience with respiratory diseases, allergies or immunology
  • Thorough knowledge of statistical methods or data science and programming skills, using R software and associated packages
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English
  • High motivation and commitment to pursue research projects independently as well as in collaboration
