Qualifikationen

• 5+ years of controlling inside a manufacturing company — on site, close to engineering and the shop floor.
• Hands-on experience with job/project costing in an ETO or single-unit production environment — series production and standard costing alone is not sufficient.
• Practical US GAAP reporting experience (prepared packages for a US parent).
• Solid HGB knowledge — able to run a German year-end and statutory audit independently.
• Familiarity with ASC 606 / IFRS 15 for long‑term contract revenue recognition.
• Strong ERP proficiency with genuine project and order costing functionality (SAP CO/PS or equivalent).
• Business-level German and English — both are working languages here.

• Entity Controlling & Statutory: full P&L / BS / cash flow ownership, US GAAP monthly reporting package, ASC 606 revenue recognition, HGB statutory accounts and audit, German tax compliance, multi-entity coordination across three legal entities.

We are conducting a confidential search for a Plant Controller supporting the German operations of a US-headquartered, private-equity backed industrial group located in Heppenheim, Hesse.

The business designs and builds ultrasonic welding, cutting, and cleaning systems — engineered-to-order — for customers across a wide range of industries. Three co-located legal entities, one shared site, one finance function.

Role Description

This is not a transactional accounting role. It is the American model of controller: financial stewardship combined with operational business partnering.

The business is engineered-to-order. Profitability is won or lost order by order — in the gap between what was quoted and what the job actually cost. The core of this role is closing that loop:

• Vorkalkulation — quotation costing that reflects operational reality
• Mitlaufende Kalkulation — live order controlling while there is still time to react
• Nachkalkulation — post-completion analysis that feeds back into the next quote

You will spend meaningful time in engineering and production — not only at your desk.

Scope (~40% / ~20% / ~40%)

Order & Project Controlling: quotation costing, live EAC tracking, post-calculation feedback loop, change order discipline, order book and margin reporting.

Plant & Operational Controlling: cost centre framework, hourly rate calculation, utilisation analysis,

WIP/inventory governance, capex business cases.

Entity Controlling & Statutory: full P&L / BS / cash flow ownership, US GAAP monthly reporting package, ASC 606 revenue recognition, HGB statutory accounts and audit, German tax compliance (VAT, CIT, trade tax), multi-entity coordination across three legal entities.

Reports solid line to Head of Finance Europe; dotted lines to Group Controller (USA) and Managing Director Europe.
