Overview

Pfizers new Machine Learning Research hub based in Germany Berlin offers a Ph.D. student position within the EU H2020 project AIDD. We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated young scientist with cross-cutting interest / experience in machine learning and chemistry. The successful applicant will be part of a large interdisciplinary network of top-level partners aiming at empowering chemical and pharmaceutical research through the latest developments in machine learning. The concrete project will cover end-to-end learning of outcomes of organic chemical reactions and will be part of a concentrated research effort among the 15 AIDD partners with frequent collaboration and a high-level network-wide training program.

Responsibilities

Work on end-to-end machine learning modelling of organic chemical reaction outcomes within the AIDD project consortium, collaborate with interdisciplinary partners, contribute to network-wide training programs, and produce high-quality research results.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, physics, chemistry or engineering with a strong interest in biology and the life sciences.
• Prior expertise in machine learning modelling, simulation or related fields.
• Excellent oral and written English with strong presentation skills.
• Good knowledge of German; strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Highly creative, outstanding problem‑solving ability and willingness to undertake challenging analysis tasks in a timely fashion.
• Excellent software engineering skills, especially in Python.
• Experience with relevant libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, the Python scientific stack).
• Proficiency with modern software development tools from git to continuous integration pipelines.
