Jobbeschreibung

Job Id:11398

Fixed-term of 3 years | Part-time with 65% | Salary according to TV-L E13 | Institute of Virology

We are UKM. We have a clear social mission and, with our focus on healthcare, research, and teaching, we bear a unique responsibility.

To meet our high standards every day, we are looking forward to your scientific expertise at the Institute of Virology – ideally with you on board!

Emerging viruses pose a major health threat worldwide. Our antiviral arsenal to combat these pathogens is often limited, partly due to the rapid development of resistance. The successful applicant will test new and approved antiviral and immunomodulatory agents against hyperinflammatory and emerging viruses. By applying new and classical techniques from the fields of virology (including BSL-3/S3 work), immunology (including animal studies) and molecular biology, a deeper understanding of the induced pathophysiology and potential therapeutic options will be gained.

Requirements
  • Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry or related fields
  • Strong background in virology or immunology
  • Experience with animal testing
  • High sense of responsibility and ability to develop new ideas, work independently, but also integrate into a multicultural and interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent English and communication skills
We offer
  • 1-2 research stays at research institutions in Belo Horizonte; Florianopolis and/or Rio de Janeiro
  • Supportive environment fostering creativity, innovation, and interdisciplinary exchange
