Cyprus VAT Association (CYVA) is seeking a Pharmacist / Hospital Pharmacist / Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to support safe and effective use of medicines through prescription review, dispensing, patient counselling, and collaboration with healthcare professionals.

The role involves reviewing prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, dose and interaction checks, allergy assessments, reconciliation of medication histories, and documenting interventions for medication safety and quality

Qualifications

  • A recognised degree in Pharmacy and eligible to practise in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Current pharmacist registration or licensure with eligibility to practise.
  • Completion of supervised training, internship or professional practice requirements.
  • Experience in community, hospital, clinical or related pharmacy settings.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, medication safety and prescription assessment.
  • Ability to evaluate dosing, interactions, allergies, and patient-specific factors.
  • Experience dispensing medicines and providing counselling on use, storage and precautions.
  • For Hospital Pharmacist roles, experience with reconciliation, discharge medicines and multidisciplinary care.
  • Knowledge of formulary management, stock controls and pharmacy information systems.
  • For Clinical Pharmacy Specialist roles, postgraduate training or specialist credentials as required.
  • Ability to interpret clinical data and lab results to support medication optimisation.
  • Experience documenting interventions and communicating recommendations to prescribers.
  • Awareness of incident reporting, ADR monitoring, quality improvement and escalation procedures.
  • Commitment to ethics, confidentiality, CPD and pharmacy practice requirements.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, organisational and teamwork skills.

The Pharmacist / Hospital Pharmacist / Clinical Pharmacy Specialist supports the safe, effective, and appropriate use of medicines through prescription review, dispensing, patient counselling, and collaboration with healthcare professionals. These positions apply pharmaceutical knowledge and professional judgement to identify medication-related problems, improve treatment outcomes, and maintain reliable pharmacy services.

The position works closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians, allied health professionals, patients, and caregivers. Responsibilities include reviewing prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, checking doses and interactions, assessing allergies, reconciling medication histories, and providing clear advice on medicine use. The role documents interventions, resolves prescribing queries, supports continuity of care, and contributes to medication safety, quality improvement, and responsible medicine management.

For Pharmacists, the emphasis varies by practice setting and may include dispensing, patient education, and routine pharmacy operations. Hospital Pharmacists support inpatient and outpatient services, clinical ward activities, discharge planning, and hospital medication systems. Clinical Pharmacy Specialists provide advanced pharmaceutical care within a defined clinical area, contributing to complex treatment decisions, specialist protocols, education, and service development. Across these positions, the role practises within its authorised scope and maintains accurate records, confidentiality, and professional accountability.

Qualifications
  • A recognised degree in Pharmacy, such as a Bachelor of Pharmacy, Master of Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy, or an equivalent qualification accepted in the practice jurisdiction.
  • Current pharmacist registration or licensure, with eligibility to practise in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Completion of required supervised training, internship, or professional practice requirements applicable to the position.
  • Experience in community, hospital, clinical, or another relevant pharmacy setting, appropriate to the role’s responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, medication safety, and the assessment of prescription appropriateness.
  • Ability to evaluate dosing, contraindications, interactions, allergies, duplication, and patient-specific treatment considerations.
  • Experience dispensing medicines accurately and providing understandable counselling on administration, adherence, storage, and precautions.
  • For Hospital Pharmacist positions, experience with medication reconciliation, clinical prescription review, discharge medicines, and multidisciplinary care.
  • Understanding of hospital medicine distribution, formulary management, stock controls, and pharmacy information systems.
  • For Clinical Pharmacy Specialist positions, advanced clinical experience and relevant postgraduate training, residency, or specialist credentials where required.
  • Ability to interpret clinical information, laboratory results, and treatment evidence to support medication optimisation within the role’s scope.
  • Experience documenting pharmaceutical interventions and communicating recommendations effectively to prescribers and other healthcare professionals.
  • Awareness of medication incident reporting, adverse drug reaction monitoring, quality improvement, and appropriate escalation procedures.
  • Commitment to professional ethics, patient confidentiality, continuing professional development, and applicable pharmacy practice requirements.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, organisational, and teamwork skills, with attention to detail and sound judgement in managing patient-safety priorities.
