Job description

Join a friendly and supportive team where no two days are the same. As a Personal Assistant, you will work closely with colleagues across the team to provide high-quality administrative and business support to the Director and Leadership team, helping to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day operations.

This is a varied and fast-paced role that requires someone who is proactive, adaptable and organised. Rather than supporting one individual, you'll work collaboratively across the team, providing seamless cover for colleagues when needed and contributing to shared priorities. You'll be encouraged to take initiative, volunteer for tasks and play an active role in supporting the wider team.

We're looking for someone with strong administrative or Personal Assistant experience who can quickly build relationships, manage competing priorities and deliver excellent support from day one. In return, you'll join a team that values collaboration, flexibility and wellbeing, where colleagues support one another and take pride in the important work they do.

An interest in the work of Natural Resources Wales would be beneficial, but most importantly, we're seeking a motivated team player who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and making a real difference behind the scenes.

We welcome applications from candidates seeking part-time working arrangements, and flexible working options will be considered. This post is fixed term until 31/03/2027.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

Interviews will take place on 23/11/2026 through Microsoft Teams.

About us

You’ll be joining a close-knit and supportive team of Personal Assistants who work together to provide high-quality support to the Executive Director of National Operations and the wider Leadership Team. Led by an Executive Assistant, our team works collaboratively, sharing knowledge, supporting one another through busy periods, and ensuring colleagues always have the cover and flexibility they need to succeed. As part of the team, you’ll also be connected to a wider network of Personal Assistants and Executive Assistants from across Natural Resources Wales, creating opportunities to learn, build relationships and share best practice.

At Natural Resources Wales, collaboration, continuous improvement and supporting each other's wellbeing are at the heart of how we work. We operate in a flexible way, with most of the team working remotely, regular virtual catch-ups, and monthly opportunities to come together in one of our offices across Wales. We also connect with the wider Personal Assistant and Executive Assistant community through dedicated learning and team-building events throughout the year, helping us develop our skills, strengthen our networks and celebrate our achievements together.

By joining us, you'll become part of an organisation that plays a vital role in protecting and enhancing Wales' natural environment. You'll be working alongside dedicated colleagues who are passionate about making a difference, while enjoying the support, flexibility and team spirit that make Natural Resources Wales a great place to work.

  • Support effective governance of the business of your management team.
  • Strive for continuous improvement to processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • As part of the network of staff in the Executive and Leadership Support Teams across NRW, ensure effective co-ordination and good communication between the different areas of the business.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post
  • Be committed to Natural Resources Wales Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy , together with an understanding of how it operates within the responsibilities of the post
  • Be committed to your own development through the effective use of your personal development plan (known as Sgwrs).
