The Patent Engineer at Elekta Crawley serves as a bridge between the IP team and the engineering organisation, helping identify inventions, evaluate them with patent attorneys, and support invention harvesting, prior art and novelty assessments.

Recent graduates or up to 2 years’ experience with strong technical curiosity and communication skills will contribute to portfolio management, competitor monitoring, and IP awareness across the business.

• Monitor competitor activity, technology trends and intellectual property landscapes to provide valuable business insights.
• Promote intellectual property awareness through training, guidance materials and engagement with technical teams.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of IP processes, innovation management tools, reporting and cross-functional collaboration.

What You’ll Do At Elekta

The Patent Engineer serves as a bridge between the Intellectual Property (IP) team and the engineering organisation. The Patent Engineer will help identify and evaluate inventions arising from research and development activities, in collaboration with qualified Patent Attorneys. The role will support invention harvesting, prior art and novelty assessments, competitor monitoring, patent portfolio management, and IP awareness initiatives across the business. The role is designed for a recent engineering graduate (or equivalent) with strong technical curiosity, communication skills, and an interest in innovation and IP.

What You’ll Bring

• Recent graduate or up to 2 years of experience
• Interest in patents, IP, innovation management or technology commercialisation
• Familiarity with scientific literature reviews, patent databases, or technical searching
