Job summary

Infinity Quest Limited is seeking an experienced OT/Controls engineer to design, deploy and support Microsoft Azure Local infrastructure within OT/industrial environments in Germany. You will integrate Azure Local with existing OT/ICS, SCADA, PLC, and HMI networks and collaborate with IT and vendors to ensure secure, resilient operations.

The role requires 5+ years in OT/Controls, strong knowledge of OT cybersecurity, and experience with Azure Arc and hybrid-cloud architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and support Microsoft Azure Local infrastructure within OT/industrial environments.

• Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, IT, and external vendors.
• Work with Azure Arc and hybrid-cloud technologies to manage assets.

• Perform system commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimisation.
• Develop and execute FAT/SAT tests and manage migrations.

Essential Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure / Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI)
• Infrastructure engineering experience across Windows Server, Hyper-V/virtualisation, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and networking
• Experience delivering infrastructure or cloud/edge projects in an OT, manufacturing, utilities, energy, or industrial environment
• Understanding of OT/ICS architectures and industrial networking
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, network segmentation, firewalls, and privileged-access management
• Experience with Azure Arc and hybrid-cloud/edge architectures
• Strong project coordination and stakeholder-management skills
• Ability to produce professional technical documentation and work within change-management processes
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in OT/Controls engineering

Relevant Experience (one or more areas)

• Design, deployment, and support of Microsoft Azure Local infrastructure within OT/industrial environments
• Integration of Azure Local with OT/ICS, SCADA, PLC, HMI, and industrial network environments
• Experience with OT network protocols (e.g., OPC, DNP3, IEC 61850, Hart, Foundation Fieldbus)
• Experience with Cisco or Stratix industrial switches and Palo Alto firewall configuration
• Integration of edge computing devices, IIoT sensors, and data historians (e.g., OSIsoft PI) into MES/ERP systems
• Experience managing industrial automation or infrastructure upgrade projects

Additional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Computer), Computer Science, or related field; Master's degree or PMP/PRINCE2 certification preferred
• Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, or AZ-800/AZ-801 (preferred)
• Knowledge of IEC 62443, NIST, or other OT cybersecurity standards
• Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes/AKS, or containerised workloads
• Experience with industrial platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider Electric, or equivalent

This role supports the design, implementation, and integration of industrial control systems and operational networks, bridging IT and the plant floor to ensure critical infrastructure (SCADA, DCS, PLCs) is secure, reliable, and aligned with business goals. The position is required to design, deploy, and support Microsoft Azure Local infrastructure within OT/industrial environments and ensure compliance with OT cybersecurity and operational resilience requirements.

Role Responsibilities

• Support the full lifecycle of OT projects, including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Operations, Maintenance, IT) and external vendors (system integrators, equipment manufacturers)
• Design, deploy, and support Microsoft Azure Local infrastructure within OT/industrial environments
• Integrate Azure Local with existing OT/ICS, SCADA, PLC, HMI, and industrial network environments
• Work with Azure Arc, Azure management services, and hybrid-cloud technologies
• Ensure solutions comply with OT cybersecurity, segmentation, access-control, and operational resilience requirements
• Produce technical designs, architecture documents, implementation plans, test scripts, and as-built documentation
• Perform system commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation
• Develop and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
• Manage system migration and cutover activities for legacy system upgrades
