BitGo Europe is seeking an Operations Specialist to work on-site in Frankfurt. The role involves high-volume, complex operational activities, including crypto/fiat transactions, reconciliations, KYC/AML reviews, and client onboarding, with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and risk controls.

The position is part-time (20 hours/week plus Sunday shifts) with evening and Sunday availability. Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and are fluent in German and English,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 1–2 years of experience in operations, banking or financial services, with a genuine interest in digital assets.
• Prior exposure to KYC/AML, reconciliations or financial operations is an advantage.

Responsabilités

• Provide operational support for crypto and banking transactions, with post-transaction monitoring.
• Support the withdrawal verification process for client requests.
• Prepare daily, monthly and quarterly reconciliations of crypto and fiat accounts and AuC.
• Troubleshoot account issues and coordinate with Sales, KYC/AML, IT Security and Customer Success.
• Maintain the hardware and software needed for daily operations and backups.
• Support the full client onboarding process in line with regulatory requirements.
• Carry out KYC/AML due diligence reviews and sanctions checks.
• Maintain complete, audit-ready client records across internal tools.
• Open, maintain and close client accounts and monitor the lifecycle.
• Collaborate with KYC/AML, escalate irregularities.
• Support Compliance with sanctions screening and trade surveillance alerts.
• Carry out approved compliance decisions operationally.
• Support Finance with invoice recording and ledger maintenance.
• Assist Risk and InfoSec with vendor risk assessments.

The Operations Specialist will work on site for BitGo Europe in Frankfurt. This individual will be responsible for performing high volume, complex, confidential operational activities, in accordance with company policies and procedures. Working hours and essential duties and responsibilities are set out below. The duties include, but are not limited to, those listed.

Working hours

• Part-time position of 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday), plus Sunday shifts of about 4 hours (up to 24 hours per week in total), on site in Frankfurt.
• Monday to Friday, 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm (4 hours per day).
• Sundays: initially on a call-on/call-off basis, with shifts announced at least four days in advance. We plan to introduce a regular Sunday shift of about 4 hours, mainly between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm, with some flexibility to adjust to client demand. Sunday work is compensated with time off in lieu in line with the German Working Time Act.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support for crypto and banking transactions, ensuring secure handling and post-transaction monitoring until on-chain settlement is confirmed.
• Support the withdrawal verification process for both regular and unscheduled client requests.
• Prepare daily, monthly and quarterly reconciliations of crypto and fiat accounts, covering transactions as well as Assets under Custody (AuC), and produce the related internal reports.
• Troubleshoot account issues, answer inquiries promptly, and work with Sales, KYC/AML, IT Security and Customer Success to resolve problems.
• Maintain the hardware and software needed for daily operations, check that backup systems are in place, and support updates such as new token support.
• Support the full client onboarding process, ensuring institutional and retail clients are onboarded efficiently and in line with regulatory requirements.
• Carry out KYC/AML due diligence reviews, including verifying client documentation, ownership structures and source of funds, and applying sanctions and risk checks.
• Maintain complete, accurate and audit-ready client records across our internal tools.
• Open, maintain and close client accounts, completing all tasks accurately and on time.
• Monitor client accounts throughout the customer lifecycle, including periodic KYC reviews and updates to client risk profiles.
• Work closely with the KYC/AML team and escalade irregularities or open compliance questions.
• Support the Compliance team with first-level screening of sanctions, PEP and adverse media alerts, and with first-level review of transaction monitoring and trade surveillance alerts.
• Carry out approved compliance decisions operationally, such as account restrictions, offboarding steps and returns of funds, and handle Travel Rule data, including follow-ups with counterparty providers.
• Support the Finance team with invoice recording, ledger maintenance, and review and forwarding of trading and stablecoin income.
• Support the Risk and InfoSec teams with vendor follow-ups, periodic vendor risk assessments and quality reviews of governance documents.
• Help with day-to-day office management, including mail handling and coordination with facility management.
