Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business ensures we fulfill and dispatch orders efficiently so that our customers receive their items on time. It is driven by Operations Managers who bring teams together to push excellence in safety, quality, and productivity across our sites. At your site, you'll lead other managers and create the operational plan that helps your teams meet their targets. This role is all about driving operational excellence to create the Amazon of tomorrow.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of Area Managers
  • Lead operational teams on a shift, address issues, and positively impact site performance
  • Analyze shift performance against relevant business objectives and implement actions to improve operational excellence
  • Collaborate closely with support teams including HR, Finance, Health and Safety, and Security
  • Design and implement initiatives across sites to enhance operational performance

A day in the life

You will lead shifts at one of our operational sites. You will serve as the key link between various teams, including finance, safety, and operations integration teams. This means you will be involved in day-to-day operations and contribute to innovative improvements at your site.

A typical day involves meetings with different business areas, analyzing performance and risk metrics, and planning for varying demand levels. Daily activities also include mentoring and coaching your team, providing leadership, and supporting their development into the best managers they can be.

About the team

Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) handles heavy items like furniture and large appliances. Our team manages the entire process from supply chain fulfillment to delivery and returns. We differentiate ourselves by offering extra customer care, including unpacking, assembling, installing large items, and removing old items when needed. Focused on safety, productivity, and innovation, we are transforming how customers buy and receive large goods.

We plan to expand our specialized fulfillment centers and delivery stations across the UK and Europe. While delivery station roles may include night shifts, most team members work during the day. Our diverse team includes professionals in operations, supply chain, business intelligence, and program management, all vital to our growth.

Minimum qualifications

  • A degree (Bachelor's or Master's)
  • Relevant experience in people and stakeholder management
  • Proficiency in the local language
  • Experience using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions
  • Experience in production and supply chain management

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen techniques
  • Experience in a similar logistics environment
