EY Mauritius seeks an Operational Technology Consultant to join Technology Consulting. You will assess, design, modernise and secure OT environments, turning complex challenges into practical solutions across industrial systems and integration projects.

Join our Technology Consulting practice and help organisations make their physical operations smarter, safer and more connected. You’ll help clients assess, design, modernise and secure Operational Technology (OT) environments, turning complex operational challenges into practical solutions that improve automation, resilience and performance.

The role sits at the intersection of engineering, technology and physical operations. You’ll contribute to transformation initiatives involving industrial systems, OT architecture, cybersecurity, connected assets, infrastructure modernisation, systems integration and operational resilience.

Organisations across industries are increasingly connecting physical assets, modernising operational systems, introducing automation and integrating OT environments with enterprise IT, cloud and data platforms. You’ll work with clients to understand their current operational environments and identify how technology, automation, connectivity, data and emerging technologies can improve visibility, resilience and performance.

You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, technology, cybersecurity and business functions, while developing your capabilities in OT and industrial digital transformation.

As part of the team, you may contribute to projects related to:

• OT strategy, architecture and transformation – OT assessments, target architectures, technology roadmaps, infrastructure modernisation and operating model design.


• Industrial systems and connectivity – ICS/SCADA environments, OT networking, IT/OT integration, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and connected assets.


• Cybersecurity, resilience and operations – OT cybersecurity, operational resilience, asset assessments and process optimisation.


• Smart and emerging technologies – smart infrastructure, connected facilities, data, analytics and AI-enabled operational use cases.

Your key responsibilities

• Support assessments of OT environments, systems, infrastructure and operational processes.


• Assist in documenting current-state and future-state architectures, system landscapes, network diagrams and integration flows.


• Gather and analyse technical and operational requirements from engineering, technology and business stakeholders.


• Contribute to OT transformation, IT/OT integration, cybersecurity and technology improvement initiatives.


• Support reviews of industrial systems, connectivity, asset inventories and interfaces with enterprise, cloud and data platforms.


• Participate in workshops, technology evaluations, implementation activities and project delivery.


• Prepare technical documentation, architecture artefacts, assessment reports and client presentations, while building knowledge of emerging OT, IoT, data and AI technologies.

Skills and attributes for success

• General understanding of Operational Technology, industrial systems, automation or connected physical environments.


• Familiarity with common OT technologies such as SCADA, PLC, DCS, RTU, HMI or similar systems is beneficial.


• Working knowledge of networking, connectivity, cybersecurity and infrastructure fundamentals.


• Familiarity with system integration concepts including APIs, databases, interfaces and middleware.


• Exposure to IoT, cloud, data or analytics technologies is advantageous.


• Ability to understand and document system architectures, network diagrams, process flows and integration landscapes.


• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and documentation skills, with a willingness to learn emerging OT and digital technologies.

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous

You’re not expected to have experience across all these areas. Exposure to one or more of the following would be beneficial:

• Industrial systems and automation – SCADA, PLC, DCS, RTU, HMI, control systems or industrial communication protocols.


• Infrastructure and connectivity – networking, IoT, sensors, gateways, telemetry, cloud or connected devices.


• Cybersecurity and digital technologies – network security, OT cybersecurity, data platforms, analytics or emerging technologies.


• Asset-intensive environments – manufacturing, utilities, energy, smart infrastructure, buildings, telecommunications, logistics or similar sectors.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.


• Approximately 1–5 years of relevant professional experience in technology, engineering, automation, infrastructure, cybersecurity, industrial systems, digital transformation or a related area.


• A good technical foundation and an interest in Operational Technology and industrial digital transformation.


• Experience contributing to technology, engineering, implementation, assessment or transformation projects.


• Ability to understand technical requirements and structure findings into clear recommendations.


• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams across technology, engineering and business functions.


• Strong willingness to learn and develop expertise across OT technologies and industrial environments.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Exposure to Operational Technology, automation, control systems or industrial environments.


• Experience with networking, infrastructure, IoT, cybersecurity, cloud, software development or system integration.


• Familiarity with technology architecture or solution design.


• Exposure to platforms or technologies from vendors such as Siemens, Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, ABB, Honeywell or similar.


• Understanding of industrial or asset-intensive business environments.


• Exposure to data analytics, automation or AI use cases.


• Experience using architecture, modelling, engineering or network documentation tools.


• Relevant foundational or professional certifications in networking, cloud, cybersecurity, automation, architecture or OT are advantageous.
