Major Roles & Responsibilities
- Radiographic Imaging: Operate X-ray and other imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images as requested by physicians. Select appropriate imaging techniques based on the type of examination.
- Patient Preparation & Positioning: Prepare patients for X-ray procedures, explaining the process to ensure comfort and cooperation. Position patients accurately to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
- Radiation Safety: Follow strict safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary radiation exposure. Use protective equipment such as lead aprons and shields.
- Diagnostic Support: Work closely with radiologists and physicians to ensure high-quality imaging for accurate diagnosis. Adjust equipment settings to enhance image clarity when needed.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate, calibrate, and maintain X-ray machines and related imaging devices. Report and coordinate repairs for faulty equipment.
- Image Processing & Record Keeping: Process and store digital or film images in medical record systems. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Anatomical & Technical Knowledge: Apply knowledge of human anatomy to capture the correct area of interest in images. Ensure correct imaging angles and exposures for different body parts.
- Infection Control & Hygiene: Adhere to infection control protocols, including equipment sanitization and proper disposal of consumables. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Emergency Assistance: Respond promptly to urgent imaging requests in emergency or trauma situations. Assist in mobile or portable X-ray imaging for patients who cannot be moved.
- Professional Development: Keep up to date with advancements in radiology technology and techniques. Participate in training programs and workshops for skill enhancement.
