GATX Rail Europe seeks an experienced Network Development Senior Expert to strengthen the strategic and operational development of its European workshop network. The role blends hands-on execution with ownership of transformation and future-proof network concepts with a focus on performance, resilience and long-term competitiveness.

Network Development Senior Expert (m/f/d)

We are looking for a highly experienced and driven professional to strengthen the strategic and operational development of our European workshop network. The role combines hands‑on execution with ownership of transformation and future‑proof network concepts - improving performance, resilience and long‑term competitiveness.

Your main responsibilities:
  • Lead future-proof network transformation by challenging existing setups and initiating new operating models, including innovative and greenfield approaches
  • Shape future network concepts, capability standards and frameworks (incl. roadmaps, best practices, and governance for a future-ready network)
  • Drive supplier and capability development roadmaps from concept through execution to close capability gaps and enable scalability
  • Own end-to-end supplier performance and governance (quality, delivery reliability, cost efficiency, responsiveness), defining KPI frameworks and enabling corrective and preventive actions
  • Support network footprint expansion and develop new supplier opportunities aligned with strategic, geographical and technical requirements
  • Lead contracting and commercial steering (framework agreements and supplier negotiations) to secure sustainable performance and constructive partnership
  • Act as key cross-functional interface across Workshop Management, Technical Operations, Maintenance and Sales & Service ensuring alignment with operational and customer needs
  • Identify operational, capacity and supply chain risks and lead transformation initiatives that enhance network resilience and flexibility

You are a good fit if you have:
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field
  • Min. 8 years of experience in supplier development/management, network management/operations or technical procurement/purchasing within an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in the rail industry
  • Proven track record in improving supplier performance and delivering measurable business impact
  • Strong experience in contract negotiation, stakeholder management and cross-functional project execution
  • Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels
  • Strong analytical mindset and structured approach to problem-solving
  • Fluency in English; other European language is a plus
  • Willingness to travel internationally
