GATX Rail Europe is seeking a Senior Business Analyst Controlling to drive our transformation in automation, reporting, and performance management across Europe. You will lead initiatives, optimize processes, and partner with IT and business teams to deliver value.

The role evolves from strategic optimization to broader operational partnering, including budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting. A strong finance background and fluent English are required.

Qualifikationen

• University degree in Finance, Controlling, or related field.
• 7–10+ years in Controlling, Finance Transformation or Business Analysis.
• Proven track record in process optimization and automation.
• Experience with ERP/BI, SAP and Power BI.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in English.

Senior Business Analyst Controlling (m/f/d)

Role Overview:

We are on a transformation journey. Our ambition is to further develop our Controlling function by increasing automation, improving process efficiency, and leveraging modern reporting and analytics solutions.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for an experienced and ambitious professional who combines strong controlling expertise with project management and systems know-how. In this role, you will initially focus on driving strategic optimization initiatives across our European Controlling organization. Over time, you will progressively take on additional operational and business partnering responsibilities.

• Drive the implementation of our controlling development roadmap and identify further improvement opportunities
• Analyze, redesign and optimize controlling processes with a clear focus on automation, standardization and leveraging efficiency
• Identify and implement digital solutions that reduce manual effort and improve data quality and transparency
• Lead cross-functional improvement projects and coordinate stakeholders from Controlling, IT and the business.
• Design and implement new reporting solutions, dashboards and performance management tools.
• Further develop budgeting, forecasting and management reporting processes and tools

As our transformation journey progresses, you will increasingly assume operational Controlling responsibilities, including:

• Participation in monthly closing, budgeting and forecasting processes
• Preparation of management reports, business analyses and decision support
• Business partnering with management and operational stakeholders
• Identification of risks, opportunities and performance improvement measures

• University degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration, Business Informatics or a comparable field
• 7-10+ years of professional experience in Controlling, Finance Transformation, Business Analysis or comparable functions
• Proven track record in process optimization, automation initiatives and project management
• Strong understanding of controlling processes, planning, forecasting and management reporting
• Experience working with ERP and BI systems, ideally SAP and Power BI
• Knowledge of data modeling, reporting architecture or business intelligence solutions
• Basic accounting knowledge and understanding of financial statements
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills combined with a hands‑on mindset
• Ability to translate business needs into practical systems and process solutions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Structured, results-oriented and self-driven working style
• Fluency in English
