Job summary

Leonardo S.p.A. in Weilheim near Munich seeks a Junior Ground Station Controller to support 24/7 operations at the ZDBS ground station. You will operate and configure ground station systems, calibrate satellite links and assist with IOT measurements, collaborating with international teams.

Fluency in German and English is required along with a technical background in aerospace/IT. EU citizenship is required for this role, and the position is onsite in Germany.

Responsibilities

• Operate and configure ground station systems as part of a 24/7 shift team.
• Review planning and configuration activities.
• Set up, calibrate and troubleshoot satellite communication links.
• Maintain the operations log and ensure safety and continuity.
• Remotely configure and monitor TT&C equipment.
• Perform and archive In-Orbit Testing (IOT) measurements.
• Operate a User Help Desk and handle user requests.
• Configure and operate complex ground segment systems such as 15-m tracking antennas and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the ground segment and software, including incident reports.
• Communicate with space segment operators and agencies.
• Support monitoring, testing and training activities.
• Create and maintain operational documentation.
• Support validating procedures and analyzing anomalies.
• For experienced Controllers: potentially train new colleagues.
