Job summary

CAE Inc is seeking a Mission Simulator Operator/Instructor Surveillance Controller (f/m/d) for our Geilenkirchen site. You will operate STDs, train aircrews, and lead scenario development in an international environment.

The role requires a bachelor degree with an additional certification and several years of E-3A surveillance controller experience, plus fluency in English and NATO clearance eligibility. On-site work and professional development opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree plus a professional certification and 5–8 years of relevant international experience.
  • Recent Air Defence Operations and Air Battle Management knowledge, especially with AWACS/JTAC/CRC.
  • Proven surveillance controller and instructor experience on the E-3A.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; service orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Simulator Training Devices and related systems.
  • Lead training, scenario development, and debriefing for aircrew.
  • Instruct on checklist procedures, system knowledge, and emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate training planning, data tracking, and publication updates.
  • Support on-site management and participate in program development.

For our site in Geilenkirchen (close to Aachen) we are looking for an Mission Simulator Operator/Instructor Surveillance Controller (f/m/d).

As MSO, the following tasks are key for the role:

  • Operate the Simulator Training Devices (STDs) and associated systems
  • Provide the expertise to contribute for an effective and efficient use of the STDs capabilities and support military instructors to achieve this goal
  • Instruct Students in checklist procedure and basic system knowledge in the STDs. Provide the full range in simulator scenario training aircrew members during all phases of training
  • Conduct theoretical and practical training and augment Customer Training Organization as required
  • Lead training and scenario development and review
  • Instruct basic system knowledge, normal and emergency procedure training and student instructor familiarization training
  • Support in planning, guiding and execution of simulated events, support distributed Simulator trainings
  • Provide briefing and debriefing to trainee and lead the scheduling activities
  • Maintain and update all required technical and operational publications and data provided by customer
  • Contribute to further development of training program
  • Provide demonstration during visits
  • Provide and track data for training, training events, students performace and generic statistics
  • Support the On Site Manager as required
  • Carry out additional tasks under direction
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Educational and or professional background with a bachelor degree plus a professional certification and a minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant work experience in an international environment
  • A recent, thorough working knowledge of Air Defence Operations and Air Battle Management, acquired in an Air Surveillance and Control Unit (i.e., AWACS, JTAC or, Control and Reporting Center (CRC).
  • A recent experience of at least three (3) years experience as a Surveillance Controller on the E-3A.
  • A recent experience of at least one (1) years experience as an instructor Surveillance Controller on the E3A.
  • Excellent organization skills, including a sense of accuracy
  • Strong communication skills across versatile customer groups
  • Hands‑on, pragmatic, and service‑orientated
  • Fluency in English
  • Eligible for NATO security clearance
