Company Overview

Founded in Berlin, autarc is a ~40 person start‑up and part of Y Combinator’s S24 batch in San Francisco. The team works across Sales, Tech, Operations and the Engineering & Product department, which currently has about 20 people and is growing.

Role Description

This role joins our Core Engineering team, focused on improving developer and user experience. Responsibilities include optimizing database performance, scaling the application, ensuring quality assurance, and integrating third‑party APIs.

Responsibilities

• Own and extend the offline‑first sync infrastructure.
• Shape internal developer experience through monorepo tooling and shared libraries.
• Operate across the stack, from API design and database performance to infrastructure and observability.
• Collaborate with Design and Product to ship end‑to‑end features.
• Leverage AI tooling to accelerate prototyping cycles and raise the bar for what the team can ship.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building SaaS products (mid‑level) or 5+ years (senior).
• Experience with TypeScript and a compiled language such as Go (or Rust, Swift, C/C++).
• Strong background in database, backend and cloud architecture.
• Proficiency with frontend technologies such as React (and TypeScript).
• Solid SQL/PostgreSQL skills and familiarity with object storage.
• Exposure to telemetry and metrics.
• Product mindset: turn ambiguous requirements into stable, user‑facing features.
• Based in Berlin and willing to work hybrid (3 days in the office).
