Zusammenfassung

European XFEL sucht eine:n Mechatronik-Ingenieur:in für Messtechnik und Undulatoren in der Hansestadt Hamburg. Zu Ihren Aufgaben gehört die Koordination des SUNDAE2-Betriebs, Inbetriebnahme und Optimierung von mechanischen, elektrischen und motion-control-Systemen sowie die Anwendung präziser Messverfahren.

Sie entwickeln Messprozeduren weiter, erstellen technischer Dokumentationen und arbeiten in einem internationalen Team.

Aufgaben

• Koordination des Betriebs von SUNDAE2 im UNSYS/DESY-Umfeld
• Integration, Inbetriebnahme und Optimierung mechanischer, elektrischer und mechatronischer Systeme von SUNDAE2
• Bedienung, Wartung und Weiterentwicklung des Hall-Probe-Messsystems
• Anforderung, Beschaffung und Integration neuer Instrumente in Zusammenarbeit mit Stakeholdern und externen Lieferanten

It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide range of experimental techniques. For our Undulator Systems group we are looking for an The Position The development and integration of superconducting undulators (SCUs) in the EuXFEL is part of the facility development program. Of fundamental importance for the program is the commissioning and operation of the SUNDAE2 measurement system. SUNDAE2 is a horizontal test stand employing three primary in-vacuum methods for high-precision magnetic characterization: Hall Probe, Moving Wire, and Pulsed Wire systems. The main task for this position is to coordinate the operation SUNDAE2 in collaboration with other colleagues from the UNSYS group and DESY technical groups. This includes: Integration, commissioning, and optimization of mechanical, electrical, and motion-control systems of SUNDAE2. Operate, maintain, and further develop the SUNDAE2 Hall probe measurement system for the characterization of superconducting undulators. Specify, procure, and integrate new instrumentation, sensors, and hardware components in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. Develop and improve measurement procedures. Design and maintain mechanical and electrical documentation, including 3D models and technical drawings in NX and electrical schemes. Requirements Master’s degree or equivalent in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Experience with precision measurement systems, motion-control systems, sensors, and instrumentation. Knowledge of magnetic measurement techniques, Hall probe systems, or accelerator magnet characterization is highly desirable. Experience with data analysis and scientific programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar). Familiarity with electrical design software such as EPLAN is an advantage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and in multidisciplinary teams. Excellent communication skills in English.
