European XFEL's SQS group invites applications for a research-focused role in detector operation and development. You will operate and maintain 2D imaging detectors, support coherent diffraction imaging experiments on clusters, nanoparticles and biomolecules, and contribute to sample delivery sources for clusters and nanoparticles.

For our SQS group we are looking for an

• Operation and maintenance of 2D imaging detectors
• Support and development of coherent diffraction imaging experiments on clusters, nano-particles and biomolecules
• Operation, maintenance and development of sample delivery sources for clusters and nanoparticles

• Development of individual research activities at the European XFEL

• PhD in physics or an equivalent academic degree
• Experience with coherent diffraction imaging methods
• Experience in handling and operation of cluster and nanoparticles sources and/or liquid jets
• Motivation to participate in the operation of an experimental station enabling forefront research at Free Electron Lasers
• Substantial knowledge of data acquisition and data processing tools
• Good communication skills in English

Compensation & long-term security

• Salary range: min. 13/3 with 5,709.87€ - max. 13/6with €7025,87, the actual level is defined by the individual work experience, here is the link to the current valid tariff table
