A leading aerospace company in Germany is seeking a Master's Thesis Student in Manufacturing Process Simulation. The role involves developing a simulation strategy for predicting warpage in thermoplastic airplane door components, with responsibilities including literature review and validation of results. Candidates must be full-time students in relevant engineering fields with a strong background in composites and finite element analysis. This 6-month position is based in Donauwörth and offers an attractive salary and flexible work hours.
Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Master’s Thesis Student (d/f/m) in the field of Manufacturing Process Simulation to support us in the Airplane Doors Department. This 6‑month thesis will be carried out at our Donauwörth site.
Location: Donauwörth
Start: as soon as possible
Duration: 6 months
In modern aircraft construction, the substitution of metallic components with thermoplastic fibre‑reinforced composites is a decisive step towards lighter, more efficient and cost‑effective structures. Carbon‑fiber reinforced Polyaryletherketone (C/PAEK) is used in primary and secondary structures due to its mechanical performance, chemical resistance and high temperature stability. The manufacturing of structural parts by thermoforming promises high automation and short cycle times, yet achieving the required geometric tolerances is challenging because of process‑induced warping. The overarching objective of this thesis is to develop and validate a simulation strategy for warpage prediction of thermoplastic airplane door components manufactured by thermoforming.
