Zusammenfassung

Airbus Defence and Space GmbH in Friedrichshafen/Immenstaad am Bodensee seeks a Master Thesis student in Engineering/Physics to integrate and test a testbed for interferometric spacecraft-to-spacecraft laser ranging. Start January 2027 for 6 months, on-site with a 35-hour week in a rich international setting.

You will set up optical experiments, manage motion control, and plan laser link tests, contributing to cutting-edge space-tech development and corporate networking opportunities.

Qualifikationen

• Enrolled Full-time Student (d/f/m) in Engineering, Physics or related field.
• Experience with Matlab and C++ would be beneficial.
• Hands-on experience in the lab with optical elements and lab equipment is an asset.

Aufgaben

• Setup and optimization of an opto-mechanical experiment including the two Optical Metrology Terminals (OMTs) and the inter-satellite link on a laboratory scale.
• Motion control via fast steering mirror and hexapod.
• Planning and execution of laser link acquisition tests; development and application of different scanning strategies.
• Tracking of the remote terminal once the laser link is established.

In order to support the Laboratory for Enabling Technologies (LET), Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Master student in the field of Enabling Technologies (d/f/m), Integration and testing of a testbed for interferometric spacecraft-to-spacecraft laser ranging acquisition. • You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.
