Overview
For our European Headquarters in Frankfurt am Main area (Offenbach) we are looking for a:
As a Systems Engineer, you will join our Global Infrastructure Services Section and play a key role in supporting multiple clients across a large-scale, enterprise environment. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and operation of a rapidly expanding infrastructure, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, performance, and stability of our systems.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the design, development, and implementation of new technologies across a large-scale systems environment
- Collaborating with engineers, developers, analysts, and cross-functional teams to design integrated and effective infrastructure solutions
- Ensuring high availability, stability, and performance of systems and infrastructure through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting
- Managing Linux/Unix systems, including installation, configuration, upgrades, user administration, security, backup, and recovery
- Implementing and maintaining monitoring tools, security measures, and redundancy strategies to ensure operational continuity
- Diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and software issues in multi-layered environments
- Maintaining capacity planning, space utilization analysis, and future resource forecasting
- Driving infrastructure changes and improvements aimed at enhancing system performance
- Coordinating with business applications teams, external vendors, consultants, and IT teams across subsidiaries and divisions
- Defining and supporting system-level requirements, architecture decisions, and adherence to IT governance standards
- Supporting GDPR compliance and system-related audits
- Executing ITIL service delivery processes, including incident, problem, change, configuration, and release management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a comparable technical field
- Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems, storage environments, network protocols, and file systems (e.g., LVM, VXVM)
- Experience with a broad range of infrastructure technologies, including: Operating systems (Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, AIX, Solaris), Server virtualization and on-premise infrastructure, Automation tools and frameworks
- Hands-on experience with high-availability solutions, including Veritas Cluster, disaster recovery concepts, and load balancers
- Practical experience with server configuration and automation tools such as Ansible and Bash/Shell scripting (preferred)
- Hardware-level troubleshooting and system administration skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while learning new tools and technologies
- Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration and social skills
- Very good written and spoken English
