We are seeking a female Community Support Worker who is LGBTQIA+ affirming and comfortable supporting a participant with a diverse range of interests, beliefs and relationship structures.
A trans woman Support Worker is highly preferred for this role, as the participant feels that someone who shares or understands her lived experience may help foster stronger rapport, trust and a sense of comfort and connection.
We welcome applications from LGBTQIA+ people and allies who can provide genuinely inclusive and affirming support.
The right person will be:

We are particularly interested in someone who demonstrates:
Empathy — you seek to understand rather than judge.
Open-mindedness — you don’t impose your own values or beliefs on others.
Emotional maturity — you can remain calm and grounded when someone is distressed.
Respect for identity — you genuinely respect gender diversity and LGBTQIA+ identities.
Respect for autonomy — you support people to make their own choices.
Patience — you understand that trust and rapport take time.
Reliability — you understand the importance of consistency in a support relationship.
Authenticity — you can build a natural and comfortable connection without being overly formal or clinical.
You don’t need to be an expert in LGBTQIA+ issues. What matters is your attitude.
We are looking for someone who listens before judging, supports rather than controls, and is genuinely interested in understanding the person behind the support plan.
If you are someone who can respect a person’s identity, relationships, beliefs and choices—even when they are different from your own—you may be an excellent match.
Chosen Family is an inclusive NDIS provider committed to creating safe, affirming and empowering supports for people of all identities and backgrounds.
We believe person-centred support means respecting the whole person—their identity, values, relationships, interests, beliefs, choices and aspirations.
We strongly encourage applications from people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community.
If you are compassionate, open-minded, reliable and genuinely committed to supporting people without judgment, we’d love to hear from you.
