Job summary

SE3 Labs in Munich is seeking a Legal Counsel to own the company’s legal work, negotiate commercial contracts, and build scalable legal processes as SE3 grows.

You will work with the founders in Munich, coordinate external counsel on export, procurement and international questions, and you may lead the legal function in this early stage.

Fluent English and German are required, and eligibility for defence-related projects and security clearance is stated.

• Experience in export law and government procurement, or venture background with willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently across a growing company and stay hands-on.
• Based in Munich or willing to relocate.

Join SE3 Labs as Legal Counsel

Own SE3's legal work and help the company negotiate, decide and move quickly in a demanding regulatory field.

About SE3

SE3 Labs builds spatial intelligence and autonomy software for unmanned systems. We combine 3D computer vision, state estimation and AI to help autonomous platforms perceive their surroundings, know where they are and operate when GPS and other sensors become unreliable. Defence is a core application of our work today.

About the Role

As Legal Counsel, you'll own SE3's legal work, from negotiating commercial contracts to building the legal processes we need as we grow. You'll work closely with our founders in Munich and coordinate specialist external counsel on export, procurement and international questions. This can be your first role leading a legal function.

• Contract Negotiation: Negotiate commercial contracts and help the team close them quickly.

• Export & Procurement: Work with specialist external counsel on export control, government procurement and international questions.

• Legal Processes: Build clear, practical legal processes that help the team make decisions.

• Advising the Team: Explain legal trade-offs clearly so the founders and teams can act.

Your Profile

• You take ownership of outcomes and remove obstacles without waiting for direction. You turn discussions into clear decisions and decisions into deliverables, and you hold yourself and your team to a consistently high standard.

• You bring strong legal experience and practical commercial judgement.

• You have experience in export law and government procurement, or a strong venture background and the willingness to learn these areas.

• You work independently across the legal needs of a growing company and stay hands-on.

• You're based in Munich or willing to relocate.

• You speak fluent English & German. Given the nature of SE3's work in the defence sector, candidates must be eligible to work on defence-related projects and, where required, obtain the relevant security clearance.

Especially Valued Bonus Skills

• Experience working in or advising venture-backed companies.

• Defence or dual-use export control experience.

• Experience with contracts across several jurisdictions.
