Jobbeschreibung

Field has entered its next phase of growth. In June, the UK energy regulator, Ofgem, selected 16 long-duration energy storage projects to progress to delivery. Field were awarded 5 of these. Collectively, in MWh terms, our projects are approximately 3 times the capacity of all battery energy storage installed in the UK to date. We currently have 4 projects totalling over 1GWh of energy storage in construction in GB with lots more delivery to do.

Your Mission

As Lead Grid Connection Engineer (Delivery) you will be responsible for leading grid compliance deliverables on some of the world’s longest duration BESS projects from pre-construction right through to FON (Final Operational Notification)

The role requires hands‑on, pro‑active management of your projects and key stakeholders (e.g. BoP contractors, BESS Suppliers, Consultants, TO’s and NESO). You therefore need to be highly engaged, resilient, execution‑focused and detail‑oriented. You’ll need to be passionate about power systems engineering, well‑versed in UK grid code, and work well as part of a multi‑disciplinary project team.

You will report into our Head of Delivery (Michael) and work closely with in-house experts across Engineering, QHSE, Procurement, Legal and Development.

If you’ve managed the end‑to‑end compliance process on transmission‑connected renewable projects then we’d love to hear from you, particularly if you have experience on projects in north Scotland.

  • Commission early system studies where possible to validate or support pre‑FID compliance assumptions.
  • Support design development, review and interpret third‑party power system studies to assess grid code compliance, and provide recommendations that inform project decisions
  • Contribute to lender and investor technical due diligence and evaluate technical tender submissions.
  • Coordinate with the grid development team and act as the key interface with TOs engineering team through pre‑construction.
  • Assist the Project Manager with inputs to schedules, risk registers and budgets.
  • Manage Mod‑App processes where required.
  • Review any updated grid connection documentation provided by NESO, ensuring risks are raised and mitigation measures are recommended.
  • Support the wider‑project team during the lender due‑diligence process on the lead up to FID.
  • Ensure grid‑related financial assumptions are accurate and justified (e.g. availability, curtailment)
  • Track and manage the key commercial and programme milestones contained in the grid connection agreement.
Construction engineering and commissioning
  • Lead the engagement with NESO for ONCP on behalf of Field.
  • Review detailed design submissions from contractors and manage technical RFIs.

  • Support testing and commissioning, coordinating teams and contractors to safely energise and hand over assets to Asset Operations.
  • Attend Commissioning Panel meetings in support of the Project Manager in the lead‑up to energisation.

  • Manage open compliance issues from ION through to FON, whilst the project is likely in Operations at this point.

  • Review transmission and distribution connection offers, assessing risks and delivery timelines.
  • Liaise with developers, TOs and DNOs to understand connection status and delivery programmes.
  • Proactively engage with industry updates or grid code changes to identify potential risks to your projects or Field.
