Zusammenfassung

Jobtailor is seeking a senior engineer to lead the design and development of VSC-HVDC models and control concepts. You will translate requirements into robust mathematical models, develop time- and frequency-domain simulations, and validate with MIL/SIL/HIL/PHIL.

Your role includes IP generation, standards engagement, and leading a small R&D team in Berlin. The candidate will leverage MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, and RSCAD to build and validate models, oversee real-time platforms with GE eLumina, and

Qualifikationen

  • Master’s degree in Power Systems or Power Electronics with significant leadership experience (Lead/Senior engineer).
  • In-depth understanding of modelling and control principles used in VSC technology.
  • HVDC system and component interactions; practical HVDC project experience preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC) and control algorithms.
  • Experience in HVDC system design, control development and validation.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and/or PSCAD for VSC-HVDC applications.
  • Experience in time-domain and frequency-domain modelling and simulation of VSC-HVDC converters.
  • Experience in EMT and SIL/HIL simulation and validation of VSC-HVDC systems.
  • Active involvement in standards/Grid Codes working groups.
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams to achieve objectives.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated collaboration with global engineering teams.

Aufgaben

  • Lead the design and development of models and control concepts for the VSC-HVDC market.
  • Translate technology requirements into control concepts and mathematical models.
  • Identify, capture, and generate new intellectual property.
  • Develop time-domain and frequency-domain models of VSC-HVDC systems (plant and control).
  • Validate models through MIL, SIL, HIL, and PHIL simulations.
  • Design, develop, and study VSC control functionalities.
  • Create and maintain requirement, design, and test specifications.
  • Propose conceptual system and control designs based on market requirements.
  • Create MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, and RSCAD models for design and validation.
  • Define, configure, and maintain real-time simulation platforms (GE eLumina).
  • Plan development activities and participate in gate/design reviews.
  • Lead a team of engineers on R&D tasks.
  • Publish articles at conferences and journals; contribute to industry groups (CIGRE, VDE, ENTSO-E, IEEE).
  • Ensure GE Health and Safety processes are followed.

  • Lead work packages translating technology requirements into control concepts and mathematical/computer models
  • Identify, capture, and generate new intellectual property
  • Develop time-domain and frequency-domain mathematical models of VSC-HVDC systems, including plant and control models
  • Validate models through MIL, SIL, HIL, and PHIL simulations
  • Design, develop, and study VSC control functionalities
  • Create and maintain requirement, design, and test specifications
  • Propose conceptual system and control designs based on market requirements
  • Create MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, and RSCAD models for design and validation
  • Define, configure, and maintain real-time simulation platforms integrating GE’s eLumina control and protection system
  • Define and plan development activities
  • Participate in gate reviews, design reviews, and quality processes
  • Lead a team of engineers executing research and development tasks
  • Publish articles in technical conferences, journals, and symposiums
  • Contribute to and influence CIGRE, VDE, ENTSO-E, and IEEE working groups and standards
  • Ensure GE Health and Safety processes are followed by personnel
Requirements
  • Master’s degree or above in Power Systems or Power Electronics / Controls with considerable work experience (as Lead/Senior engineer)
  • In-depth understanding of Modelling and Control first principles and algorithms used in the VSC technology
  • Overall understanding of HVDC system and component level interactions and considerations in HVDC schemes (practical experience from working on HVDC projects preferred)
  • Deep understanding of Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC) and control algorithms
  • Experience in HVDC system design, control development and validation
  • Experience in working with MATLAB/Simulink and/or PSCAD for VSC-HVDC applications
  • Experience in time-domain and frequency-domain modelling and simulation of VSC-HVDC converters
  • Experience in offline EMT and SIL/HIL simulation and validation of VSC-HVDC systems
  • Experience in participation in working groups for standards and Grid Codes
  • Experience in leading teams of engineers towards achieving the company’s objectives
  • Familiarity with quality processes such as “Agile” development practices would be advantageous
  • Demonstrated experience and track record of success in working with global engineering teams
