The primary purpose of the Laborer (Trails) is to perform recurring laboring work involving grounds, trails, roads, facilities, and developed areas, including moving materials and supplies, operating tools and equipment, and performing basic maintenance and groundskeeping duties. Anticipated Entry on Duty: March - July 2027 Open to the first 250 applicants or until 10/13/2026 whichever comes first. Major Duties of the position: Perform heavy physical labor such as clearing brush and fallen logs from trail corridors, digging for long periods of time with a shovel and pick, carrying logs and rolling rocks. Construct and maintain trail drainage structures and backcountry bridges. Use and maintain a variety of tools and equipment commonly used in Laborer (Trails) duties. Use standard safety equipment and follow safety procedures. Work may involve living and working out of remote backcountry camps for extended periods of time.
