Job summary

Hatch in Essen, Germany, is seeking a Junior Buyer/Expeditor (new graduate) to join the Project Management & Construction Delivery, Procurement group. The role supports global offices from our Essen location, focusing on procurement, expediting, and schedule integrity.

You will coordinate with vendors, internal teams, and clients, applying ISO standards and project execution plans. Summer 2027 start, with growth opportunities within a global engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Working toward graduation in 2027/2028 or recent graduate with a relevant degree.
• Knowledge of procurement, logistics and supply chain operations in a technical/engineering environment.
• Familiar with ISO 9000/19011 and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform purchasing activities in line with established procedures.
• Expedite all project equipment/materials per expediting plan.
• Ensure reporting data is complete and accurate.
• Coordinate packing lists and delivery documentation, including export docs.
• Issue release documentation as per the Project Execution Plan.
• Interface with client and project members on expediting issues.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal disciplines using iPas MP or other reporting to maintain schedules.
• Manage Change orders for projects.
• Monitor vendor engineering/manufacturing schedules to prevent delays.
• Coordinate with Quality surveillance for timely inspections.
• Handover to logistics to facilitate delivery per Incoterms.

Hatch is seeking a dynamic Junior Buyer/Expeditor new graduate (start date Summer 2027). Reporting to the Project Management & Construction Delivery, Procurement group, you will support offices globally working from our Essen, Germany office location.

Responsibilities / Tasks:

• Responsible for performing the purchasing activities in accordance with purchasing procedures
• Expedites all project equipment/materials in accordance with the expediting plan
• Ensure that the data for reporting is complete and accurate
• Coordination of information relating to packing lists and delivery documentation including any documentation required for export purposes
• Ensure all relevant release documentation is issued as per the Project Execution Plan
• Interface with client and project members regarding expediting issues
• Coordination and communication with vendors and internal disciplines using iPas MP or other forms of reporting to maintain project schedules and prevent any delays
• Management of Change orders.
• Monitor vendor engineering and manufacturing schedules to ensure schedule is maintained and pro-actively manage any possible delays
• Coordinates with Quality surveillance to ensure the scheduled inspections are performed timely
• Handover to logistics to facilitate delivery as per the purchase order pending on Incoterms conditions specified in the purchase order

Qualifications:

• Must be working towards graduating in 2027/2028, or recently graduated, with a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline (Business Administration, Commerce, or Economics), with knowledge of procurement, logistics, and supply chain operations within a technical/engineering environment.
• A degree of technical aptitude and familiarity with various materials, fabrication processes and supply items
• Elementary knowledge of preservation and packaging procedures
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 and ISO 19011
• Multi-discipline knowledge/awareness
• Proven track record in a similar position
• Communication skills – writing reports, presenting and leading vendor meetings
• Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions
