Job summary

Hatch seeks a Junior Buyer/Expeditor to support global offices from our Essen, Germany location. The role focuses on purchasing activities, expediting project equipment, and ensuring accurate reporting and documentation across projects.

The position requires a degree in Supply Chain or related field and a strong aptitude for procurement, logistics, and cross-functional coordination in an engineering environment. Summer 2027 start is expected.

Qualifications

• Working toward 2027/2028 graduation in Supply Chain.
• Bachelor’s degree in SCM or related discipline.
• Knowledge of procurement, logistics, and supply chain in technical/engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform purchasing activities per procedures.
• Expedite project equipment/materials per expediting plan.
• Ensure data for reporting is complete and accurate.
• Coordinate packing lists and delivery documentation for export.
• Issue release docs per the Project Execution Plan.
• Interface with client and project members on expediting issues.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to maintain schedules.
• Manage Change orders.
• Monitor vendor schedules and prevent delays.
• Coordinate with Quality surveillance for inspections.
• Handover to logistics per Incoterms and PO.

Hatch is seeking a dynamicJunior Buyer/Expeditor new graduate (start date Summer 2027). Reporting to theProject Management & Construction Delivery, Procurementgroup, you will support offices globally working from our Essen, Germany office location.

Responsibilities / Tasks:

• Responsible for performing the purchasing activities in accordance with purchasing procedures
• Expedites all project equipment/materials in accordance with the expediting plan
• Ensure that the data for reporting is complete and accurate
• Coordination of information relating to packing lists and delivery documentation including any documentation required for export purposes
• Ensure all relevant release documentation is issued as per the Project Execution Plan
• Interface with client and project members regarding expediting issues
• Coordination and communication with vendors and internal disciplines using iPas MP or other forms of reporting to maintain project schedules and prevent any delays
• Management of Change orders.
• Monitor vendor engineering and manufacturing schedules to ensure schedule is maintained and pro-actively manage any possible delays
• Coordinates with Quality surveillance to ensure the scheduled inspections are performed timely
• Handover to logistics to facilitate delivery as per the purchase order pending on Incoterms conditions specified in the purchase order

Qualifications:

• Must be working towards graduating in 2027/2028, or recently graduated, with a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline (Business Administration, Commerce, or Economics), with knowledge of procurement, logistics, and supply chain operations within a technical/engineering environment.
• A degree of technical aptitude and familiarity with various materials, fabrication processes and supply items
• Elementary knowledge of preservation and packaging procedures
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 and ISO 19011
• Multi-discipline knowledge/awareness
• Proven track record in a similar position
• Communication skills – writing reports, presenting and leading vendor meetings
• Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions
