Job summary

Marks Sattin seeks a Junior Accountant in Mainz, Germany with hybrid working. You will contribute to a growing European finance team, handling revenue calculations, billing uploads, and high-volume payments while supporting month-end processes and expense claims.

Collaboration with the UK Finance Team will ensure accuracy across records. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in finance in Germany, strong Excel skills, and fluent German and English.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years' experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping in Germany.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills with confidence in financial data.
• Understanding of expense processing and basic accounting principles.
• Awareness of German tax requirements relating to invoices and expenses.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Fluent German (B2 minimum) and English, both written and spoken.
• Growth mindset in a rapidly expanding international business.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end revenue calculations and reconciliations.
• Prepare billing uploads and create customer credit memos.

Junior Accountant | Mainz, Germany (Hybrid Working)

An international, technology-led business is looking for a Junior Accountant to join its growing European finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad accounting exposure within a fast-growing international organisation.

Reporting to the European Financial Controller, your key responsibilities will be:

• Perform month-end revenue calculations and reconciliations
• Prepare billing uploads and create customer credit memos
• Process high-volume client payment runs and maintain supporting records
• Assist with month-end finance activities, including revenue reconciliations and journals
• Manage customer billing and payment queries
• Work closely with the UK Finance Team to ensure financial records remain accurate
• Review and process employee expense claims
• Download invoices from supplier portals, including telecoms, fleet, leasing and utilities

Successful Candidate

• 1-2 years' experience in a finance, accounting, or bookkeeping role within Germany
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
• Good understanding of expense processing and basic accounting principles
• Awareness of German tax requirements relating to invoices and expenses
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Fluent German (B2 minimum) and English, both written and spoken
