Job summary

ZEISS Group invites motivated students to join the Innovation Hub @ KIT for a hands-on internship.

You will work within a team of scientists and research engineers for at least 4 months on projects for interactive systems, focusing on voice commands and speaker/context identification without wake-word. The role includes user interaction design and prototyping with new hardware.

Qualifications

• You are enrolled in a master’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar.
• You have a strong computer science background with very good coding skills.
• You have experience and/or strong interest in human-centered design.
• You also have some experiences in at least one of the topics listed above.
• You are willing to collaborate and work in complementary teams.
• Good communication skills in English and/or German.
• You are willing to learn and explore with a high degree of initiative and creativity.

Responsibilities

• Work on research projects for interactive systems, focusing on voice commands and HCI concepts.
• Collaborate with scientists and research engineers in a hybrid internship setup.
• Prototype with new hardware and sensors and contribute to automated speech recognition initiatives.

Your Role

We are seeking passionate and talented students who are eager to shape next-generation products at ZEISS. Integrated in a team of scientists and research engineers, you will work (for at least 4 months) on research projects for interactive systems. In these projects voice commands play a crucial role for human‑computer interaction capabilities. The internship will focus on voice commands with speaker and context identification without a wake‑up word. It includes user interaction design with novel form factors and prototyping with new hardware and sensors in the context of automated speech recognition.
