Job summary

National Instruments Dresden GmbH is seeking an enthusiastic student for a 6G wireless research internship in Dresden. You will work on a prototyping system for 6G, plan and conduct measurement campaigns, and develop demonstrators and proofs of concept to showcase at conferences.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an engineering or computer science degree (from at least the 5th semester) with knowledge of Linux, Python, C, DSP (OFDM), and wireless communications.

Qualifications

• Ongoing academic studies in electrical engineering or computer science with a focus on communication systems (from 5th semester).
• Good knowledge in Linux, Python, and C programming; Digital signal processing (e.g., OFDM); Wireless Communications.
• Availability for 6 months starting in April 2027; This internship must be a mandatory part of your studies.

Job Description

The deployment of 5G is ongoing, and the focus of researchers in academia and industry is already shifting to the 6th generation of wireless communications. The focus is on new upcoming technologies like Extreme MIMO, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), non-terrestrial communication, and/or machine learning techniques as part of the wireless transmission system. As with 5G, NI wants to be on the leading edge and is preparing for the next technology wave.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Working on a prototyping system for 6G Wireless Communications Research
• Plan, set up, and conduct measurement campaigns and experiments
• Implement compelling demonstrators and Proof of Concepts for 6G communication systems to be showcased at conferences

Who You Are:

You work effectively in a group environment, solve problems, diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutions. You prepare content for communication that is impactful and reach out to mentors with questions to help drive progress and completion of goals and tasks. You are passionate about wireless technology and like to learn and work with the latest test and measurement techniques and equipment.

For This Role, You Will Need:
